The alpine pastures of Uttarakhand's alpine heights serve as the starting point for many of our fantastic treks in the area. These are the Bugyals, fertile grassy uplands tucked away in mountain gorges, where shepherds gather their herds in the summer before the winter snows bury them.
Dayara is a lesser-known Bugyal that can be reached from Uttarkashi through a short, steep walk, but it is well worth the effort. In the local language, Dayara refers to a circular area of land that reflects the Bugyal's hoop-shaped grassy turf, which is bordered by black oak and maple woods, with a brilliant snowline of the Bandarpoonch and other peaks beyond the green reaches.
A leisurely stroll across Dayara's undulating meadows will take you out of the world frames of its green environment, the whispering wildness of the oak forests, and someplace far away, a breathtaking peak vista panorama gradually unfolding. The Gangotri series of peaks, Srikanth peak, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak may be seen at various junctures throughout the whole route.
Short Itinerary
Day 1 -From Dehradun to Natin Village
Day 2 - From Natin to Gui
Day 3 - From Gui to Chelapada
Day 4 - From Chelapada to Dayara Bugyal top and back to Gui
Day 5 - From Gui to Natin
Day 6 - From Natin to Dehradun
Day 1 : From Dehradun to Natin Village
Natin is a lovely town well-known as the starting point for the Dayara Bugyal hike. Uttarkashi is around 38 kilometres distant. The town is surrounded by beautiful vegetation. The Bhagirathi River runs all the way to the settlement. The road to Raithal is a winding trek across the mountains. From Moryana top, you'll receive your first view of the Gangotri range, including Shrikanth peak. If you want to photograph the magnificent peaks, you'll take a short stop here. The views of mountain peaks grow better as you go closer to Natin; Shrikanth peak is one of the most noticeable summits from here. You'll either stay in a guest house or in an actual homestay.
Day 2 : From Natin to Gui
Begin the trip early in the morning with an enthusiastic mood. This route takes you into the jungle. It is densely forested with silver and gold oak trees. The path to the campsite is clearly signposted, and the campsite at Gui is always visible. Because the path progressively ascends, it will take around 4-5 hours to reach the next resting spot. The camping location is remarkable in that, unlike mountains, it is surrounded by alpine trees. Near the campground, you'll see charming village cottages. Gui offers nearly identical views as Raithal, with clear views of the Gangotri range and Shrikanth peak. You may unwind and re-energize yourself while gazing at the lovely night sky.
Day 3 : From Gui to Chelapada
Today is a shorter day, similar to mountain trekking. As the jungle clears, the route gradually ascends to the second Chelapada camping spot. It will be a short walk. A running creek may be found right adjacent to the camping area. It's possible that you'll see some snow marks on the walk. The Dayara Bugyal hike is well-known in Bandarpoonch, although there are many other spectacular peaks to see. You must wander around and investigate the neighbourhood after lunch or late tea.
Day 4 : From Chelapada to Dayara Bugyal top and back to Gui
The big day has finally arrived. You will hike to the highest peak today and then return to the campground. The route gradually opens up after the first few steps through the forest, leading to wide fields. Following that, you'll be slogging through lush meadows blooming with beautiful flowers. You won't realise you've gotten closer to the summit because you're walking through such gorgeous landscape with amazing views of Bandarpoonch and other peaks. A poorly filled water stream may also be visible. The last ascent is difficult, but it is well worth the effort since you will be standing in front of the Dodital range. Bandarpoonch appears to be a short distance distant. After then, the route leads to the Gidara pass. Pass separates the routes to Pichkiya and Gidara Bugyal. Allow yourself some time to absorb the tranquilly of the countryside before retracing your steps back to the campground. This day may appear frantic as we strive to arrive at the campground before noon.
Day 5 : From Gui to Natin
Today marks the conclusion of our little trek over the mountains. Get up early and carry everything you need to keep the journey memories safe. As you might expect, the route descends gently until you reach Raithal. By just glancing behind you on the route, you may recall prior happy memories. The towering peaks appear to be beckoning you back. Raithal is a bustling community where children and people may be seen mingling. Natin will be your home base for the night.
Day 6 : From Natin to Dehradun
In Natin, have one last cup of morning tea. Say your final goodbyes to your fellow hikers, swap phone numbers, and reminisce. Take a great group photo before boarding the cab that will take you back to Dehradun. Between the mountains, valleys, and the Bhagirathi River, this will be a 7-hour ride. The river that accompanied us on our journey. You should arrive in Dehradun between 3 and 4 p.m., from whence you may continue your travel as scheduled. Take plenty of adventure-filled memories home with you, and make a promise to return to the mountains.
