Day 1 : Laocai - Ben Den - Trek from Ta Thang to Sin Chai B Village ~ 8hrs hiking
Arrive in Lao Cai around 05.30AM. Soak up the morning with hot and delicious breakfast in local restaurant. Instead of transferring directly to Sapa as regular tours, we will drive to Ta Thang where we will follow another route to Sapa after trekking through several villages.
Today is our first challenge with up to 8 hours trekking. From Ta Thang, we lift our feet for this hard trek passing through bamboo forest and green jungle along some of the most remote area of the north. We stop for lunch in the village of Nam Phang before heading towards our homestay in Sin Chai B village of Red Dao people. We may meet the Red Dao tending fields or working in forest on our way. Arrive our homestay in late afternoon. Having a dinner and overnight in a local house of Red Dao people.
Day 2 : Sin Chai B – Thanh Phu – Nam Sai Village ~ 7 hrs hiking
Breakfast and leave Sin Chai B at about 08.00 am. Today’s adventure will take us through a number of small ethnic minority villages (including Red Dao, Tay, Xafo and Black H’mong). This portion of the trek offers stunning view of Nam Sai and Nam Cang Valleys as well as chances to understand life of tribal peoples in remote land. We will see people from the local communities carrying out their daily activities as it is in the northern highlands. The hiking trail lead us to our home stay for tonight in the Tay village - Nam Sai. Check in home-stay, having a short rest and enjoy an easy walk to explore this charming and quiet village.
Day 3 : Nam Sai - Nam Sang - Nam Ngan - Ta Trung Ho ~ 7hrs hiking
Following breakfast we will leave Nam Sai behind us and start to ascend to Nam Sang, a village of Xa Pho people through Nam Sai valley. Paying a visit to local homes here for interesting discovery of their unique ways of living. The Xa Pho is a sub group of the Phu La ethnic whose population is just about 4,000 in Vietnam and still live a primary way.
Keep heading on the same trail uphill for 1,5 hour through the forest to Nam Ngan Village of the Red Dao. Lunch break at the top of the mountain and in the forest. After that, we spend the whole afternoon for challenging along a narrow dirt trail snaking on steep hill sides. The trail gets through narrow & sharp canyon from the height of 950 m up to nearly 1,700m leading right to Ta Trung Ho village of Red Dao, where we will stay here for overnight.
Day 4 : Ta Trung Ho – Nam Toong – Ban Ho – Sapa ~ 5hrs hiking
You are now at the fringe of the rain forest by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. The range own Fansipan peak, the highest in Indochina Peninsula with 3143 m. Our whole trek today is under the huge shadow of Hoang Lien Son Mountain.
You will start the trek by descending to Nam Toong village of Red Dao minority. Here your lunch will be prepared in a local house or in local school. In the afternoon, before descending to Ban Ho, you can make a stop by a waterfall to refresh. Then where your car takes you on the journey back to Sapa.
Day 5 : Sapa – Lao Cai – Night train to Hanoi ~ no hiking
Breakfast in the hotel. We leave this last day under your own plan for relaxing after a real challenging adventure. You can walk to Ham Rong Mountain where gives you an eye bird view of Sapa town center or check out some souvenir at local market. We will collect you at around 5pm for a transfer back to Lao Cao station. Get ready for night train to Hanoi. Overnight on train.
Day 6 : Arrive in Hanoi
Arrive in Hanoi around 5 am. You may need to take taxi to your hotel or transfer to airport in order to connect to your next adventures in Cambodia, Laos or Myanmar with ActiveTravel.Asia.
