Dunagiri is a historic range in Almora locale in the state of Uttarakhand in India. Around 400 km (250 mi) from Delhi, a cluster of six little towns forms the spot that is differently known as Dunagiri, Drongiri and Doonagiri. 116 such towns join to frame the Development Block of Dwarahat, which falls under the District of Almora. Situated at a tallness of 8,000 feet (2,400 meters) above ocean level, Dunagiri is famous inside Kumaon for its sanctuary of Shakti – referred to here as Dunagiri Devi. The old Dunagiri Temple, found 20km from Dwarahat and perched on a slope at around 2,500m (8200ft), offers one of the widest perspectives of the Himalayan ranges. The temple gets its name from the twin natural peaks of the higher rangesand is hung in rich history, religion and nearby stories. In the conventional story, Hanuman found the celestial Sanjeevani herb from Dunagiri top that resuscitated Lakshman in the Ramayan, while in the epic Mahabharat, the Pandavas the Pandavas had their temporary abode here, and additionally the various holy people and ascetics life who came here to meditate in solitude. .
