Day 1 : Arrival at Guwahati –
Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) & Transfer to Shillong - Welcome to Guwahati - Meet and be assisted by our representative at the Airport / Railway Station & proceed to Shillong - It is approximately 100 kilometers and is roughly 03 hours drive - It is the capital and hill station of Meghalaya, also known as "The Abode of Clouds", one of the smallest states in India - The town reminded the European settlers of Scotland - Hence, they would also refer to it as 'Scotland of the East' - Enroute we see Umium Lake (Barapani), a majestic placid lake surrounded by Sylvan hills - On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel - Evening free to visit the markets - Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 2 : Excursion to Cherrapunjee –
Early Morning breakfast - Next drive to Cherrapujee - It is approximately 60 Kilometers i.e. 02 - 2½ hours drive by car - At present the historical name Sohra is more commonly used is a subdivisional town in the East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya - It is credited as being the wettest place on Earth, although nearby Mawsynram currently holds that record - Cherrapunjee possesses some exotic waterfalls and impressive limestone caves - Visit Visit Dwan Syiem view point, Noh kalikai falls, Mawsmai caves, Seven Sister falls, Eco park etc - Later after lunch back to Shillong drive back to Shillong - On the way visit to Shillong Peak & Elephant Falls - Return to The Hotel / Resort - Evening if time permits visit local market (Police Bazar) - Night stay at Shillong.
Day 3 : Shillong – Mawlynnong – Dawki – Shillong (100 Kms/ 2-3 hrs one way)
Day trip to Mawlynnong- the cleanest village in Asia. The saying seeing is believing seems to be so right for this village. This is an experience in itself. We will explore the living root bridge and the tree house in the village.Then we proceed to Dawki (Indo-Bangladesh Border) Overnight stay and dinner in Shillong hotel.
Day 4 : Transfer from Shillong (Meghalaya) to Tezpur (Assam) –
Early Morning breakfast - Next drive approximately 260 kilometers ie. a drive of nearly 07 hours - Tezpur is a city and the administrative headquarters and municipal board of Sonitpur district in the state of Assam in northeastern India - It is an ancient city on the banks of the river Brahmaputra and is the largest of the north bank town and is approximately 175 kilometres northeast of Guwahati, considered to be the Cultural Capital of Assam - Reach Tezpur - Check into hotel - If time permits one can visit the ruins and remains of Agnigarh where the immortal romance blossomed and stands testimony to the eternal time - Later visit cole park where you can enjoy boating - Evening free to stroll around the local Market - Overnight stay at Tezpur
Day 5 : Transfer from Tejpur to Majauli –
Early Morning breakfast - After breakfast drive to majuli-the land of satras approximately 250 kilometers i.e. a drive of nearly 05 to 06 hours - Majuli or Majoli is a large river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam, India - It is the largest River Island of the world - The island Majuli has shrunk as the river surrounding it has grown - The island is formed by the Brahmaputra river in the south and the Kherkutia Xuti, an anabranch of the Brahmaputra, joined by the Subansiri River in the north - The island is also accessible by ferries from the city of Jorhat - The island is about 200 kilometers east from Guwahati - It was formed due to course changes by the river Brahmaputra and its tributaries, mainly the Lohit - Majuli is the abode of the Assamese neo-Vaisnavite culture - Evening free to stroll around the local Market - Over night stay at Majuli.
Day 6 : Majauli Localsightseeing
Today, we will explore the rest of the important sites of Majuli covering Auniati Satra (Founded by Niranjan Pathakdeva, the satra is famous for the "Paalnaam" (Monastery Prayer) and Apsara Dances (Dance of the Angels) and also its extensive assortment of ancient Assamese artefacts, utensils, jewellery and handicrafts) and Natun Samaguri Satra ( Shamaguri Satra is a unique feature of Vaishnavism in Assam . Shamaguri is not only a hub of art, cultural and classical studies but is also famous for its unique art of mask making). Afternoon we will take you to Salmara Village to show the Art of Pottery Making (Pottery in Majuli is probably the single most important heritage of all. The potter’s wheel has not found its way till date. Pots are made with hand from beaten clay and burnt in driftwood fired kilns. Archeologists opine this to be a missing link between Mohenjodaro & Harappan civilization). The day would come to an end with a visit to Dhapak Village of the Mishying Tribes (Mishyings are a plains tribe who prefer to have their settlements next to the Brahmaputra River. They are of the Arunachal hill tribe origin especially of the Adi tribes of the Abor hills of Arunachal Pradesh). After completing sightseeing back to the hotel for dinner and then overnight stay at Majauli Hotel / Resort .
Day 7 : Majauli to Kaziranga –
Morning after breakfast, take your ferry back to Nimati Ghat. Upon arrival, proceed to Kaziranga (Kaziranga is one of the largest Protected Areas in India and one of the most significant conserved forest areas on the earth. From the time it was declared as a Proposed Reserve Forest for the Great Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis), it has become an exceptional model in conservation, also providing an ideal habitat for numerous other threatened species. Kaziranga has justly earned its place as the flag bearer among all the wildlife conservation efforts across the globe. Into its hundredth year of existence, the tradition continues). Arrive and check-in at your Jungle Lodge. Take rest dinner and overnight stay at Kaziranga hotel.
Day 8 : Transfer from Kaziranga to Guwahati – 3 h 54 min (193.2 km)
Early morning breakfast - Next drive approximately 194 kilometers and is nearly 4 hours to Guwahati- Guwahati is the ancient cities of Pragjyotishpura and Durjaya (North Guwahati) were the capitals of the ancient state of Kamarupa under the Varman and Pala dynasties - Many ancient Hindu temples are in the city, giving it the name City Of Temples"- Dispur, the capital of Assam, is in the circuit city region located within Guwahati and is the seat of the Government of Assam. Overnight stay at Hotel at Guwahati
Day 9 : Guwahati Local Sightseeing –
After breakfast kick start your day with lovely morning. Today, we will explore the rest of the important sites of Guwahati such as :- Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Temple, Assam State Museum, Umananda Island, Guwahati Zoo, Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, Basistha Ashram, Guwahati Planetarium. After visiting back to your hotel take rest and have your dinner and then back to bed.
Day 10 : Departure Transfer to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) / Guwahati R
Early morning breakfast - After breakfast if time permits one can visit any of the shopping center i.e. four major trading center are Pan Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Fancy Bazaar and Uzan Bazaarcloser to the route to Guwahati railway station or Airport - Next drive to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) / Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) - Forwarding Journey.
