Our Motorcycle journey will begin through the mixed sub-tropical forests, coniferous forest, high altitude grassland, juniper, rhododendrons and high altitude Himalayan pastures of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. You also get to see the biodiversity of wildlife and virginity of Himalayan forest during this expedition. There are countless breathtaking views of the great peaks on the Tibet and China frontier, besides Bhutan. You will not miss to see quaint Monpa village origin from Tibet, who still preserved Tibetan culture and food up in the Himalayas of Arunchal Pradesh. Day 1 : Arrive Paro, Bhutan
Fly into Bhutan Himalaya, the land of Gross National Happiness and the carbon neutral country only in the world. Once you landed at Paro International Airport, our team from Travel Madness will meet you. After a short introduction, our road captain will give short briefing on Motorcycle and today’s riding program. Later start the Motorcycle engine and start hitting the unfolding Bhutan’s road. Today we will spend our time in Paro with visit to Ta Dzong (watch tower), Rinpung Dzong, Kichu Temple and ride further till Drukgyel ruins. Evening stroll around. Dinner and overnight stay.
Note: While overtaking, keep left lane and over take from right side. Overtaking from left hand side of the vehicle is not allowed in Bhutan and all vehicles in Bhutan have right-hand side drive. Give a way/side to VIP vehicle, Ambulance and Fire brigades.
Day 2 : Paro – Thimphu (Tiger’s Nest) (65 Km / 1 hr)
Morning, wake up early in the morning and then start a Motorcycle till Tiger’s Nest base point (parking lot) Later take a gentle hike to Tiger’s Nest, the world famous monastery. Usually, it takes about 2-3 hour uphill hike and 1-hour downhill depending on your walking speed. The trails until cafeteria is gentle hike from the base and after crossing cafeteria, the trail climb right upward unless we reach resting point. Stop for a short while at Cafeteria for a cup of tea / coffee. From cafeteria stoppage, one can able to see face-to-face image of Tiger’s Nest monastery. After visiting Taktshang, come back to cafeteria for a hot lunch. After lunch descend down to parking lot. Pickup a Motorbike and then head towards Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan and it is expected to takes about 1 hour ride to reach Thimphu. The road conditions between Paro – Thimphu is fine paved double lane road. Check into hotel. Evening stroll around Thimphu town or take a rest in the room. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 : Thimphu – Punakha (77 Km / 2 hr)
Morning we will spend our time visiting to Memorial Stupa, built in a memory of Late King by his mother, visit to Giant Buddha Dordena, one of the largest stupa in Asia, visit to Takin Zoo, the National Animal of Bhutan, National Library, where world largest book is preserved, visit to Painting School, where young Bhutanese student learn 13 different kinds of Arts & Crafts of Bhutan.
After lunch, proceed for Punakha valley. Enroute to Dochu La Pass (3050M) which separates boundary between Punakha and Thimphu district. Stop for a panoramic view of Bhutan Himalayan range during clear weather. Later, descend down unless we reach Punakha. If time permits, visit Giant Punakha Dzong (fortress) that is suited in between confluence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu (Male and Female River) Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 : Punakha – Trongsa (142 Km / 5 hrs)
Right after the breakfast, pack our stuffs and then depart for Trongsa. Enroute to Pele La Pass and Chendebji Stupa. Later in Trongsa, visit to Trongsa Dzong and Ta Dzong (watch tower) overlooking Trongsa valley. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 : : Trongsa – Tingtibi - Panbang (190 Km / 6-7hrs)
After breakfast, we will ride to remote community of Panbang, which is a small town in Southern part of Bhutan with less settlement, close to Indian border of Assam. Panbang also known for White Water Rafting, Golden Mahseer Angling or fly fishing in Drangemchhu River and birding. If time permits visit to Royal Manas National Park, which is close proximity to the Manas Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam, India. Entoute to Tingtibi village, which separates road between Gelephu and Panbang. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 : Panbang – Tingtibi - Gelephu (167 Km/ 5-6hrs)
We will ride back to Gelephu, the nearest Indian bordering town of Assam. Today we will be using the same road until Tingtibi. The road condition between Pangang and Tingtibi is quite dirt / off road and riding would be challenging one along the way of Mangechu River unless reaching Tingtibi. After crossing Tingtibi, we will ride further; the road climbs upward until we reach Tama La Pass. After crossing Tama La Pass, we will descend down. We will come across with lots of fun on road until we reach Gelephu. Before reaching Gelephu, we will come across immigration checkpoint. Clear immigration formalities. Check into hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7 : Gelephu – Guwahati (360 Km / 5-6 hrs)
Today we will leave Bhutan behind and head for Guwahati, the India State of Assam. The ride over stretch of Indian National Highway (NH33) gives one of the most relaxing rides until we reach Guwahati. As a matter of fact, Guwahati is a main business hub for North East India. Evening at leisure or try Brahmaputra River Cruise. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 : Guwahati – Nameri (255 Km / 5-6 hrs)
Today we will proceed for Nameri National Park crossing Koliabhumura Bridge over the mighty Brahmaputra River, one of the wildest rivers in India. The Koliabhumura Bridge also connects two states of middle Assam, Nagaon and Shontipur. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9 : Nameri – Dirang (240 Km / 7-8 hrs)
Before we ride towards Dirang, early in the morning after early breakfast enjoy a pleasant morning walk along the sandy bank of River Jia Bharali with the beauty of Himalayan mountain range. Later depart for Dirang, a small hill station surrounded by a snow-capped mountain in west Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and ancient civilization of Monpas tribe. Enroute to Bhalukpong. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 10 : Dirang – Tawang (155 Km / 5 hr)
Before we depart for Tawang, visit to Yak breeding farm, Sangti valley and Apple orchard. Enroute drive pass Sela Pass (13,700ft) which is one of the second highest motorable road in India and enjoy the glimpses of Paradise Lake which makes your visit worth and year round the lake is been covered with thick blanket of snow. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11 : Tawang
Today after breakfast, we will spend our time exploring Tawang. Visit to Tawang Monastery (also known as Golden Namgyal Lhatse) which was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyamtso in 1860 – 81 and it is over 350 - 400 year old and one of largest monastery in India and second largest in Asia, visit to PT Tso Lake (Pangang Teng Tso Lake) one of the most popular lakes in Arunachal Pradesh located at distacnce of 18Km away from Tawang and during winter time the lake remains completely frozen.
Later we ride to visit Bum La pass (16,500ft) that is located 37Km away from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh at the Indo – China border. The pass is often remains covered with thick snow throughout the year and also it is believed to be that, where Dalai Lama entered India from here while escaping from Tibet. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 12 : Tawang – Bomdila (185 Km / 6-7 hrs)
After breakfast we ride back to Bombila, again crossing Sele Pass. While in Bomdila, visit to Bomdila Monastery, which was established in 1965, and it is situated close to Tipi Orchid Research Centre in West Kemeng district and explore around local market. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 13 : Bomdila – Guwahati (285 Km / 8 ½ hrs)
Once we complete breakfast at hotel, ride to Guwahati, which will be tiring ride. Check into hotel. Towards in the late afternoon, enjoy Brahmaputra River Cruise. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 14 : Guwahati / Departure
Today after breakfast, our team will transfer you to airport for your onward flight to Delhi / Kolkata. Your beautiful Bhutan and India Tour ends here!!!
