Day 1 : Yangon - Mawlamyaing
Early morning drive to Bago (approx. 1 ½ hours). In Bago visit the Kyaik Pun Pagoda with four gigantic Buddha images all in sitting posture facing the four cardinal points of the compass, the interesting Bago Market with varieties of vegetables, flower and commodity goods and the Kha Khat Wain monastery, where daily before 11 o’clock, a long line of monks form a procession to take their noon and final meal of the day. Then continue via Kyaikhto to Mawlamyine (approx. 6 ½ hours). Upon arrival transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight
Day 2 : Mawlamyaing - Kyaik Ma Raw - Kyaikkhami - Mawlamyaing
After breakfast visit the downtown area with the central market, specialized in dry goods and the new market with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Kyaikmaraw, a small charming town, is located 24 km Southwest of Mawlamyine. On the way, you can see toddy and rubber plantation, the road passes through eight villages. A walk through this small, charming town with traditional wooden homes, whose roofs are covered either with thatched-palm or corrugated metal roof, is always worthwhile. Visit also the Kyaikmaraw Pagoda, built by Queen Shin Saw Pu in 1455 and idyllically situated at a small lake. Near Mudon, 30 kilometers south of Mawlamyine, is the world's largest reclining Buddha Image under construction. From here continue to Kyaikkami, a small coastal resort and missionary center known as Amherst during the British era. The main focus of Kyaikkami is Yele Paya, a metal-roofed Buddhist shrine complex perched over the sea and reached via a long two-level causeway. Other attractions here are the colonial administrative buildings that are nearly 100 years old. Overnight in Mawlamyine.
Day 3 : Mawlamyaing - Hpa An
After breakfast, climb up to the Kyaik Thanlan Pagode, from where you have a wonderful panorama view, visit the Mahamuni Pagode, built in the typical Mon style and the U Zina Pagode, at the southern end of the hill chain, with four life-large figures, depicting to the legendary key scenes in Buddha’s life. Then transfer to the jetty and take a private boat for the river cruise to Hpa-an (approx. 5 hours) Upon arrival transfer to Parami Guest House for check-in and overnight.
Day 4 : Hpa An S/S
Hpa-an, the capital of Kayin State, is situated at the food of the magnificent Zwekabin Hill. Walk through the small streets of Hpa-an and visit the lively market. Then take the picturesque road to Zwekabin Mountain, passing endless rice fields with bizarre single standing rocks. Visit the Lonpini Park with the Bodi Tahtaung Pagoda at the base of Zwekabin Mountain, Eindu, a small town with weaving home industries and the Thamanya monastery, located 23 miles south-east of Hpa-an beside the Hpa-an - Kawkareik road. This place is very famous for the most venerable monk "Thamanya Sayardaw", passed away in 2003. Pilgrims all over the country come to pay homage so it is always full of pilgrims and devotees. A large-scale catering establishment offers vegetarian meals to all pilgrims. Overnight in Hpa-an.
Day 5 : Hpa An - Kyaikhtiyoe
After breakfast drive to Kyaikhtiyo (appr. 3 hours). At Kyaikhtiyo Township, transfer from your car to a special open truck for your ascent to Kinmon Base Camp (appr. 45 minutes drive). From here continue the journey up to the Golden Rock on foot. (This trail is sometimes steep, but is smooth, and there are covered shelters every 50-100 meters to rest, and have a cold drink. Porters will be available to assist anyone who wishes help, and a "sedan chair" conveyance is available for those who do not wish to walk.) Along the way, will be many pilgrims who have walked from the very base of the mountain. At the shrine, is a small stupa placed atop the Golden Rock, a massive granite boulder. Covered with gold leaf, and precariously balanced over the edge of the mountain, it is purported to be held in place, "balanced on hairs of the Buddha". Enjoy the late afternoon activities at the shrine, before returning back to your hotel for overnight.
Day 6 : Kyaikhtiyoe - Bago - Yangon
After breakfast drive to Bago. In Bago visit the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, with 114 metres the highest pagoda in Myanmar, the Pyay May Pyay Pagoda, where there is a large Python to admire, the Shwetharhlaung Pagoda, with its giant reclining Buddha, having a history over 1000 years old, the Mon Village, with its array of cotton weavers and the Hintha Gon Pagoda, the place where Bago was founded. Late afternoon drive back to Yangon and transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight.
