Farm stay tour in Bhutan

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Paro to Thimphu.

  Pickup from Airport (2200m altitude) after completing the airport formalities, and drive to hotel in Thimphu (2300m altitude), which is 65 km from airport. On the way have a view of houses that are build and painted in traditional Bhutanese style. After lunch visit Semtokha Dzong, which is the oldest Dzong built in Bhutan by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1629. Later on visit memorial chorten, built in honor of our late third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

• Day 2 : Thimphu to Talo

  Start at 8:00am towards Talo, guest(s) will be welcomed by host from Talo village. Talo is not only a beautiful clustered village but also a very important historical Place under Punakha Dzongkhang.
  This village was a summer residence of the founder of Bhutan. The Magnificent fortress, looking like temple has most unique architecture designed by founder himself. Overnight stay at farm house in Talo.

• Day 3 : Talo to Lobesa

  After breakfast at 7:30am, guest(s) will participate in any kind of farm related works depending upon the season. Later, follow the ancient trail towards Punakha Dzong. Punakha Dzong is the most beautiful dzong in the Country located between two Rivers (Phochu and Mochu), which means Male river and Female river. After lunch drive towards the Temple of Devine Mad Man for a short hike. Overnight stay will be in the village of Tshokonga which is in the middle of the Rice Fields.

• Day 4 : Lobesa to Gangtey

  Start at 8:00am towards Gangtey, one of the most beautiful open valleys and home to the endangered black-necked cranes (Grus nigricollis), which migrate from the Tibetan plateau to spend their winter at Gangtey from end of October to the end of March. After a long drive from Lobesa, guest will be rewarded by a traditional hot stone bath. Overnight stay in farm house at Gangtey.

  • Meals & Drinks : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

• Day 5 : Phobjikha

  Spending another day at Gangtey by doing few short hikes from village to village, observing their day to day activities. After lunch visit Gangtey Monastery, this is known for its best wood works in the country. Overnight stay in farm house at Phobjikha.

  • Meals & Drinks : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

• Day 6 : Phobjikha to Trongsa

  After breakfast at 8:00am drive to Tongsa by passing Pele-la pass (3,351m altitude). Further down the road, stop to visit Chendebji Chorten erected in the 18th century by a Tibetan lama to cover the remains of an evil spirit that was subdued at this spot. It is built in the Nepalese style, with painted eyes at the four cardinal points. Check into the hotel and after lunch visit Trongsa Dzong, and Ta Dzong museum. Overnight stay at Trongsa.

• Day 7 : Trongsa to Bumthang

  After breakfast at 8:30am drive towards the lovely valley of Bumthang, the religious heartland of the Bhutan and home to some of its oldest Buddhist temples and monasteries. After crossing Yutong la Pass (3351m altitude), enjoy continue descends till Chumey Valley. Check into the hotel and after lunch visit Jambey Lhakhang, Kurje Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang. Evening enjoy leisure time at Chamkhar Town. Overnight stay at Dorjibi Homestay.

• Day 8 : Bumthang (Ura excursion)

  Start at 8:00am towards Ura (60 km from Chamkhar town). On the way have the view of sheep pastures land, 10 km from town at the tip of southern Tang valley. Later, climb Ura-la pass (3,600m altitude), on the approach to which there is a magnificent view of Mt. Gangkar Puensum. Enjoy continuous descends till Ura valley and visit most beautiful clustered village of Ura. After picnic lunch at Ura Valley, drive towards Shingkhar another Beautiful village in the middle of ridge. In the evening drive back to Chamkhar for overnight stay at Dorjibi Homestay.

  • Meals & Drinks : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

• Day 9 : Bumthang to Paro

  After breakfast at 9:00am drop to Bumthang airport to fly back to Paro. It takes 30minutes to reach at Paro. Upon arrival at Paro airport, drop to Paro town for lunch. Later on visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and Paro Dzong. Check into the farm house for overnight stay and dinner.

• Day 10 : Paro (Taktsang Hike)

  After breakfast at 7:30am, driver will drop guest(s) at the base of Taktsang monastery. From here hike upwards to the monastery which climbs through a beautiful pine forest. The hike leads to the imposing Taktsang monastery, built in 1600s. It is believed that in the 8th century, Guru Rimpoche, the tantric mystic who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, landed here on the back of a flying tigress to subdue a demon. Guru Rimpoche is supposed to have meditated here for three months in a cave where monastery stands at present. Upon return to the base, drive to Drugyel Dzong which is built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 to commemorate his victory over the Tibetan invaders. From here, on a clear day, get a magnificent view of the Mount Jumolhari (7,314m). Overnight stay at Paro.

  • Meals & Drinks : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

• Day 11 : Departure.

  After breakfast, drop at airport for onward destination.
