Day 1 : (Kochi)
Arrival Kochi Airport from New Delhi. You are picked up from the Airport or from any location in Cochin by the representative of Halo Backwaters for your journey in Kerala. Till recently, Kochi was Cochin, and only half as frenetic. It was a lagoon that made Kochi as cherished destination as far back as the early 16th century and it is the same lagoon that makes Kochi one of the nation's busiest port now.
Transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kochi.
Day 2 : Kochi
After breakfast in the hotel proceed for the sightseeing in and around Kochi. The most important heritage sightseeing is in Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. You will need a couple of hours of leisurely walks to take in this heritage quarter. The heritage quarter are includes Santa Cruz Basilica, Princess Street, St.Francis, Dutch Cemetery, Jew Street, Pardesi Synagogue and Chinese Fishing net.
After lunch proceeds to visit the Tripunithra Hill Palace and Museum, the summer retreat of the Kochi Rajas, Bisque and granite floors segue into teak ones and the whole place is redolent of bygone opulence.
Later in the evening enjoy Kathakali dance presentation. Kathakali (literally, story play), the spectacular classical dance drama of Kerala based on the guidelines laid by Saga Bharatha's Natya Sastra,the ancient treatise on dance and drama, is over 500 years old.Overnight stay at Kochi.
Day 3 : Kochi
After breakfast drive to Pokkali Tourism Farm is an eco-friendly (no harmful to environment) tourism Farm scattered in the west part Pizhala Island ( one of the ten islands of Kadamakudy Panchayath) .Periyar River (250 kms long) forms four branches here runs along the border of these Islands and finally joins in the Vypin backwater.
Other amenities provided for the tourist are fish hunting, crab hunting, country boat rowing with paddles, fresh and saline water swimming, country boat making, kite playing, fish net making, photography and video vision of ancient fishermens’ fishing equipments.
By evening proceed to visit the Kalarippayattu,a physical disciple that was followed irrespective of gender.Overnight stay at Kochi.
Day 4 : Kochi - Kumarakom
Drive to Kumarakom and check into the hotel.Kumarakom is a sleepy little village tucked away from the din and bustle of city life. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is an Ornithologist's paradise and a favorite haunt of migrating birds like Siberian stork,darter,heron and teal to name a few.
The Vembanad backwaters have to be experienced slowly,leisurely and languidly.Kumarakom,one of the most enchanting backwater village of God's Own Country.Where you can give in yourself to the unforgettable delights of a world - renowned paradise.Tourists throng Kumarakom to experience its gentle pace of life and stunning views of nature. The only places to visit are the nearby Bird Sanctuary, the Driftwood Museum.
After the relaxation proceeds to visit the Driftwood Museum. This museum was the brainchild of Raji Punnose, a teacher who worked in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for 25 years.The museum has a stunning array of elegant driftwood sculpture.
By evening proceed to visit the Bird Sanctuary, spread across 14 acres in a former rubber plantation that was previously known as Baker’s Estater,the Englishman who developed this area into a bird sanctuary would be glad to see the large number of delighted bird waters who gather here today. Overnight stay at Kumarakom.
Day 5 : Kumarakom - Alappuzha
After breakfast drive to Alappuzha & check into the houseboat at 12 noon for 2 Night / 3 Days riding in the backwaters & small canals.
A glide in a houseboat through the enchanting backwaters is sure to rob your heart. Palm fringed narrow canals winding through the vast expense of panoramic sight one can never forgetting less than 15 minutes, the low hum of the motor and the dazzling afternoon light have tuned out the noises in your head, the deadlines, the telephone, the unfinished chapters. Watch the white tire-tread clouds turn into wisps of animal fur and then disappear. The isolation on a luxury houseboat is total. Overnight stay in a houseboat.
Pick up from Alleppey Finishing Point Jetty at 1200 hours. Pick up from Alleppey Finishing Point Jetty at 1200 hours. Cruise through Pallathuruthy River, Pookaitha River, Pullangady and reach Champakulam. Visit Champakulam Church, which is more than 200 years old, the famous snake boat, Champakulam Chundan and Kottaram temple. Proceed to Munnattumugham for night stay. Enroute, stop at Nedumudy to visit the local market. Overnight stay at Kuttanad.
Day 6 : Alappuzha - Houseboat Cruise
Cruise through Mancompu have a walk through the village and visit Bhagavathy temple. Back to houseboat and proceed to Pulinkunnu and enter Puthenthodu which is a long stretch of narrow canal and reach Kavalam. Further cruise will be through big rivers with paddy fields on both sides viz. Mangalam, E-Block.Overnight stay at Kuttanad.
Day 7 : Alappuzha - Kochi
Cruise through C- Block, Kuppapuram and Azhikkal canal and after breakfast, reach Alleppey Finishing Point Jetty at 9000 hours. After breakfast, you will be check-out in Alappuzha from the house boat and transferred to Kochi. Alappuzha is a unique backwater destination situated on the banks of the Vembanad Lake is considered as gateway to the backwater of Kuttanad, the granary of Kerala.
After the visit of Coir Museum at Alappuzha,proceed to Kochi.Rest of the time for own activities and shopping in Ernakulam and Lulu Mall. Overnight stay at Kochi.
Day 8 : Kochi - Airport
Early morning, you will be transferred to Kochi airport/railway station to catch the flight/train to home. On departure the tour concludes with happy memories. Tour Concludes.
