Day 1 : Arrive Leh
Arrive kushok bakula airport leh - 3505m above sea level. Arrival in leh – a desert city in the ladakh region of jammu and kashmir – meet a tour representative, who will guide you to the hotel. Once you reach the hotel, since you are arriving at 11000 ft, we recommend taking rest till 03:00 pm on the first day where you should not indulge yourself in any strenuous activity. Late afternoon drive to visit leh palace & the white-domed shanti stupa – built to promote the buddhist peace pagoda mission. Later in the evening walk around local market to buy exquisite handicrafts. Thereafter, enjoy dinner & stay overnight at the hotel in leh.
Day 2 : Sightseeing of Sham Valley
After breakfast, go for a sightseeing tour of the leh region. Start from hall of fame, which was constructed by the indian army to commemorate the sacrifice of soldiers during indo-pak wars. Later, visit the revered kali mata temple, followed by spituk gompa – an 11th century structure. Next on the list of attractions is the majestic gurudwara patthar sahib. Nestled deep in the himalayas, it was constructed by the lamas of leh in 1517 to honour the visit of guru nanak dev – the founder of the sikh faith. While here, drive another 4km to witness the magic of magnetic hill that defies the law of gravity. It has been noticed that when a vehicle is parked on neutral gear on this metallic road, it seems to slide up and further.
Driving through a picturesque landscape.We reach the confluence of the indus & zanskar river. Following this exciting day, alchi monastery 1000+ year old, the only gompa in ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the likir monastrey to visit the splendid three storeys dharma wheel gompa. Here you'll be awestruck with the sight of the massive buddha statues. Back to the hotel, dinner & overnight stay at hotel.
Day 3 : Leh to nubra valley crossing khardungla pass
After an early breakfast, drive to nubra valley through khardung la – the highest motorable road in the world at around 18,832 feet above sea level, the snow capped peaks and the mountain views are amazing. The road then passes through a bridge laid on glacier which finds its way in guinness book of world records, drive through the valley which is extremely beautiful for photography. Nubra valley is popularly known as the valley of flowers. It is situated to the north of ladakh between the karakoram and ladakh ranges of the himalayas.
In the afternoon, proceed to camp & reach your camp visit the sand dunes you will get the sight of the two hump bacterian camels, you can enjoy a camel safari on sand dunes (on direct payment basis). Back to tent & there after, savour dinner and overnight stay in tented camp in hunder at nubra valley.
Day 4 : Transfer from Nubra Valley to Leh
After breakfast, visit diskit monastery en route to leh. The magnificent diskit gompa dates back to the 14th century and owes its inception to changzem tserab zangpo – a follower of tsong-kha-pa.There are a number of shrines inside the monastery like kangyu-lang, tsangyu-lang, etc. Also, hundreds of mongolian and tibetan texts have found their storehouse inside these temples. Diskit gompa has quite an interesting legend attached to it. It is believed that a mongol demon once lived here and was considered to be a sworn enemy of buddhism. Back to leh, check-in at the hotel and relax. In the evening, you may enjoy a leisurely walk to the local market, dinner & stay at leh.
Day 5 : Leh to Pangong Lake
After an early breakfast, continue towards pangong, passing through changla pass, which is around 5360 metres high. Enroute, pangong lake, situated at 4267 metres above sea level, is famed for its serenity. A long narrow basin of inland drainage, it is bisected by the international border between india and china. Though open to tourists, the lake and its surrounding are under army surveillance. Arrival tent and visit lake & take beautiful photography. Evening at leisure. After dinner, retire to your tented camp near pangong lake.
Day 6 : Pangong Lake to Leh
After enjoing sunrise at the lake, you can capture the beauty of the lake in your cameras. Relish hot lunch and drive back to leh, enroute visiting hemis gompa – the largest monastic foundation of drukpa kagyu order of tibetan buddhism. As soon as you reach leh, check-in at the hotel and take some rest. After dinner, retire to your hotel room in leh.
Day 7 : Half Day Sightseeing & Leisure Day in Leh
After breakfast, go for half day sightseeing. Visit thiksey monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the maitreya and is also known for its (dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After that we continue to drive through series of chortens to visit shey palace, it was constructed on the orders of king deldan namgyal in 1655 ad. It houses one of the largest golden buddha statues in the country. After you may go on a shopping spree and buy regional items like pashmina shawls, stoles, tibetan handicrafts like prayer wheels, buddhist masks and thangka. Post dinner, enjoy a good night’s sleep at the hotel.
Day 8 : Departure from Leh
Early morning, transfer to the airport. Depart from leh to delhi by flight. Upon arrival in delhi, board a connecting flight for your home.
