Day 1 : Arrive Mumbai
Your tour on the Footsteps of Lord Buddha takes off on your arrival in Mumbai. You'll be received and greeted by our tour representative who will escort you to the hotel. Check into the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 : Mumbai
On Day 2, you'll be taken on a sightseeing tour of the city. Visit the Elephanta Caves. The seventh century caves temples are unique and speak volumes about the pre medieval period artistry and architecture.
In the afternoon, you'll be visiting other celebrated sights in Mumbai such as the Gateway of India, Dhobi Ghat, Prince of Wales Museum, the Towers of Silence, and the Hanging Garden.
Night stay is scheduled at Mumbai hotel.
Day 3 : Mumbai - Aurangabad
Morning, get transferred to airport to board the flight to Aurangabad. On reaching Aurangabad, check into a hotel.
Later you'll be taken on an excursion to Ajanta Caves. The prehistoric Buddhist caves are UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best museums of ancient pictorial art. The rock cut carvings were made by Buddhist monks in second century BC.
Head back to Aurangabad after a day full of activities.
Day 4 : Aurangabad
On the Day 4, you'll set on an excursion to Ellora, also a world heritage site and home to monumental caves architecture. There are 34 caves, of which 12 caves are Buddhist, 17 Hindu and 5 are Jain caves.
Buddhist caves are mostly viharas and monasteries, multistoried structures which were built during the fifth and seventh centuries.
Retire to the comfort of your hotel room after a weary day of sightseeing.
Day 5 : Aurangabad - Bhopal
Morning, you'll be transferred to railway station to board a train to Bhopal. On reaching Bhopal, you'll be escorted to the hotel where you'll spend night.
Day 6 : Bhopal
On Day 6 of the Footsteps of Lord Buddha, you'll be taking an excursion to Sanchi. Sanchi is home to several Buddhist monuments dating back from third century BC to twelfth century AD. The great Sanchi Stupa is also located here which was commissioned by Ashoka. All the monuments are now UNESCO world heritage sites.
Explore Sanchi Stupa and its relics, Archeological Museum and Monastery. Stay overnight at hotel on Sanchi.
Day 7 : Bhopal - Jhansi - Orchha
Today, you'll be heading for Bhopal sightseeing in the morning. Afternoon, you'll be transferred railway station to board a train to Jhansi. On reaching, Jhansi, you'll be further driven to Orchha, where you'll be escorted to hotel for overnight stay.
Orchha is a medieval town on the banks of Betwa River which remained the capital Bundela dynasty. Visit the Raj Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, Sawan Bhadon Mahal, Lakshmi Temple, Orchha Fort and Palace.
Day 8 : Orchha - Khajuraho
Today, you'll be driven to Khajuraho. In the afternoon, you'll be taking a city sightseeing tour at Khajuraho. Khajuraho is famous for its sensual Kama Sutra temples and one of the best preserved medieval sites. The sculptures depict the lifestyle of people, their everyday activity right from plowing the fields to traditional dancing and playing musical instruments. But the most important monuments are those of depicting the intimate relations. You'll be visiting Eastern and Western Group of temples.
Overnight stay is at hotel.
Day 9 : Khajuraho - Varanasi
After a lazy morning and late breakfast, you'll be transferred to the airport for catching the flight to Varanasi. On reaching, you'll be further driven to Sarnath. Sarnath is where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon. Explore the ruins of the sacred city visiting spiritual sites such Dhamek Stupa, Mulagandhkuti Vihara, Asoka Pillar and the Museum.
Back to Varanasi for overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 10 : Varanasi
Today, in the early morning, enjoy an exciting boat cruise in the holy waters of River Ganges. Back to hotel for breakfast followed by a city a tour of the ancient city of Varanasi. Varanasi is the one of the oldest ancient cities dating back to 4000 years. You'll be visiting Bharat Mata Temple, Banaras Hindu University, Durga Temple, and Mosque of Aurangzeb.
Afternoon is at leisure. Spend night in Varanasi hotel.
Day 11 : Varanasi - Bodhgaya
Enjoy boat ride early in the morning on river the Ganges. Later, check out from the hotel and drive to Bodhgaya. On reaching, sign into a hotel. Bodhgaya is a place where Lord Buddha received enlightenment. The place is most revered of all Buddhist sacred places.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 : Bodhgaya
Following breakfast, you'll be escorted to a guided city sightseeing tour of Bodhgaya. . Visit Bodhi Tree, Mahabodhi Stupa, Buddha Statue, and Archaeological Museum. Also visit the Chinese Temple, Niranjana River and the Sujata Temple.
Night stay at hotel.
Day 13 : Bodhgaya - Patna
Today, you'll be driven to Patna visiting en route Gridhakuta Hill and Bimbisara Jail. Later, you'll be proceeding towards Nalanda, the fifth century BC center of Buddhist learning. Visit the old sights at Nalanda.
On reaching Patna, check into a hotel. During the day, you'll be taken on a city sightseeing tour comprising visits to Gurudwara, Patna Museum and Golghar. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 14 : Patna - Kushinagar
In the morning, you'll be driven to Kushinagar. On arrival, check into a hotel for night stay.
Later you'll be on an escorted sightseeing tour visiting Rambhar Stupa and Mahaparinirvana temple. Stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 15 : Kushinagar - Saravasti (Balrampur)
Today, you'll be driven to Balrampur. On arrival, check into a hotel. Later, proceed to visit the Sahet Mahet, Buddhist Temples, and the Jetawana Gardens. Night stay is scheduled at the hotel.
Day 16 : Saravasti - Lumbini
This day, you'll be driven to Lumbini. Lumbini is the birthplace Lord Buddha and one of the sacred places. On arrival, check into a hotel. The day is spent at leisure. Explore the surroundings on your own.
Night stay is scheduled at hotel.
Day 17 : Lumbini - Chitwan
After breakfast, set out for a short sightseeing tour of Lumbini.
Later you'll be driven to Chitwan, home to famous Chitwan National Park. On reaching, you'll be required to check into a jungle lodge. Overnight stay is scheduled at Chitwan National Park.
Day 18 : Chitwan - Kathmandu
Today, you're slated to explore the jungle on a jungle safari. You'll be driven in a jeep or Canter escorted by a guide or naturalist who will help you understand the diverse flora and fauna.
Later, you'll be driven to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. On reaching, check into a hotel for overnight stay.
Day 19 : Kathmandu
Today, you'll be taken on a sightseeing trip of Kathmandu city. You'll be visiting the prime attractions of the city comprising Sayambhunath Stupa, a two thousand year old stupa a world heritage site. Post lunch, you'll be heading for Bouddhanath Stupa. This is also an ancient stupa and foremost centre of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. Later you'll also visit Pasupatinath Temple.
Overnight stay is the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 20 : Kathmandu
Today, you'll be taking a tour to Patan city. Evening is at leisure. You can explore the surroundings or relax in the comfort of your room.
Dinner and night stay is at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 21 : Kathmandu - Delhi
The package of trailing Footsteps of Lord Buddha comes to an end today. You'll be transferred to airport in the afternoon to board a flight to Delhi. On arriving Delhi, you'll be served a sumptuous dinner following which you'll be driven to International Airport to catch the flight back home.
