This all takes place at a little fishing village called Gansbaai, which forms part of the Overberg Region. Adventure Tours Cape Town will guarantee you a highly dynamic, adrenalin fuelled tour. Gansbaai is renowned for having a dense population of these predators namely the Great White Shark. Once savagely hunted for its teeth and jaws it is now thankfully protected. Whilst in pursuit of its favourite food, the Cape Fur Seal, it will sometimes breach clear of the water which all makes a spectacular show.

From the briny depths of the ocean its back to dry land where we head to Hermanus to enjoy lunch (at your own expense). The restaurant just happens to be a cave, once inhabited by indigenous Khoi-San people centuries ago. The view of the ocean from your restaurant is breathtaking and anywhere from June to November is whale mating and calving time, so you might be lucky enough to sight the playful frolicking of the Southern Right Whale.

After a lovely lunch we take the coastal road to a little hamlet called Betty’s Bay. This is home to the African Penguin, which is on the endangered list and now has settled colonies managing to nest and breed. An established walkway enables visitors to have an intimate insight on how these little creatures go about their daily business. Once called “Jackass Penguin” because their call resembles a donkeys bray, they have now been diplomatically renamed the African Penguin.
