Day 1 : Reykjanes Peninsula - Hveragardi
Arrive Keflavik Airport, pick up your luggage and head through customs. Collect your rental car at the airport and proceed to your hotel. Time permitting, explore the Reykjanes Peninsula (a UNESCO Geo Park site) before you head to Reykjavik and continue to Hyeragardi which is approx 40 km from Reykjavik.
Reykjanes Peninsula: See unusual craters, lava cliffs, fissures, and the Mid-Atlantic ridge itself. Walk on a bridge that divides Europe and North America. Stroll in the surreal Gunnuhver area to see quirky colourful mud pools and steam vents.
Overnight at Hveragardi.
Day 2 : Hveragardi - South Coast - Thundering Waterfalls - Cliffs & Stone Arches - Black Sand Beaches
Breakfast. Check out. Drive along the scenic South Shore and the area near the in famous Eyjafjallajokull volcano who’s massive 2010 eruption caused air traffic around the world to be cancelled. Stop at the interactive LAVA Centre to learn about the powerful volcanic and tectonic forces that shaped both Iceland and Earth. The centre has interesting exhibits for all age groups.
Drive by the beautiful Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls (each one worth visiting) and Myrdalsjokull glacier. Opt for a fun snowmobiling trip on the glacier and weather permitting, enjoy a splendid view. Stop by the seafront village of Vik to explore a dramatic stretch of coastline poised between glacier-topped mountains, rugged sea cliffs and black-sand beaches.
Dyrholaey* is a rocky headland famous in photos for its black lava arch. During the summer, thousands of sea birds and puffins nest here (between mid-May and early August). *Important: Please note that Dyrholaey is closed during nesting season, from about the middle of May until late June. Check in at your hotel the Vik area.

Day 3 : Vik Area - Thjorsardalur Valley – Gullfoss – Hekla Volcano – Waterfalls – Geysers
Breakfast. Check out. Explore colourful Thjorsardalur valley and its ever-changing landscapes of birch woods, sandy lava fields, rivers, and waterfalls. See the impressive Mt. Hekla volcano. During summer visit the excavated site of a Viking age farm that was covered by lava from one of Hekla’s eruptions. (Admission not included).
Continue to the amazing Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir hot spring area. Gullfoss is Iceland’s most beautiful waterfall. Geysir is an active geothermal field with many bubbling steam vents and spouting hot springs, including the famous Strokkur geyser. Try snorkelling in clear waters between two continents or during summer, rafting in a river with water from Gulffoss.
Relax at either the Fontana Steam Baths in Laugarvatn or the Secret Lagoon in Fludir. Check in at your hotel. Overnight in the Golden Circle area.
Day 4 : Thingvellir - National Park - Fjord - Borgarfjordur Area - Lava Falls - Reyjavik
Breakfast. Check out and visit Thingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic Viking parliament. See the meeting point between the North American and European continents. Several walking trails take visitors to historical points of interest.
Then travel via either along scenic Hvalfjordur fjord or the vast Kaldidalur wilderness track (Open June-August, 4WD car needed). Continue to the beautiful Borgarfjordur region and Reykholt, home of the 13th century chieftain and Saga author Snorri Sturluson. Visit the colourful Vidgelmir lava cave or take an exciting ride up Langjokull glacier in a special truck to view a unique ice tunnel and ice cave and see a glacier from inside out.
There are also two scenic waterfalls, Hraunfossar, the Lava Falls, which appear as though glacial water is bursting through lava formations. The nearby Barnafoss Falls has brilliantly blue waters. Visit Deildartunguhver, the most powerful and fastest hot springs in Europe. Bathe at the nearby Krauma natural geothermal baths which use water from Deildartunguhver.
The new Hvammsvik Nature Area in the Whale Fjord region lets you relax in a series of stone lined seaside pools with beautiful views over the sea and nature. This hot spring area has a rustic charm of hot pools of Iceland’s old days. Drive to Reyjavik and check in at your hotel.
Overnight.
Day 5 : Reykjavík
Breakfast. Check out and drive to Keflavik International Airport. Leave your hotel no later than at least 3 hours before your flight departure. It takes approximately 1 hour to drive to the airport, and check-in will start 2 hours before your departure.
Please note: Blue Lagoon (Check if its open before departure). If you missed the Blue Lagoon on your first day you can visit it enroute to the airport, time permitting. Please allow for at least two to two and a half hours extra for ample time at the lagoon. Return your rental car to the airport service area, located only 2 minutes from the airport building. A shuttle will then transport you to the departure hall. End of Tour.
