Day 1 : Arrival Delhi
Arrive Delhi, meet assist at the airport & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Delhi .
Day 2 : Delhi
After breakfast proceed for sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi :
OLD DELHI - A sight-seeing tour of Old Delhi would entail visiting the Raj Ghat - the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated;
Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India.
NEW DELHI - An extensive sight-seeing tour of New Delhi would include a visit to the Humayun's Tomb, the Qutub Minar, a drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House, the President's Residence and would end with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave. Night stay in Delhi.
Day 3 : Delhi - Agra ( By superfast air-conditioned train Dep 0615 Hrs Arr 0815 Hrs )
Early morning pick up from hotel & transfer to railway station to board the superfast air-conditioned train to Agra. Breakfast in the train. Arrive Agra in approx. 02 hours & transfer to hotel. Later visit the Agra fort - the rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction was started by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Am (hall of public audience), a colonnaded hall of red-sandstone with a throne alcoveof inlaid marble at the back, the Emperor heard public petitions. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded Peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Also visit Sikandra,the former capital of Lodi dynasty, was named after the Afghan ruler Sikander Lodi. The city of Sikandra, located at about 12 km from Agra, houses the tomb of Mughul Emperor Akbar. The design and construction of the tomb was started by Akbar himself and subsequently completed by his son Jehangir. The shape of the tomb is a truncated pyramid with five storeys. The first four storeys were constructed with red sandstone and the fifth one with white marble. The white marble storey comprises a false tomb of Emperor Akbar. The real tomb of Akbar is located in a crypt right below the false tomb. Evening explore rich handicraft markets of Agra. Night stay in Agra .
Day 4 : Agra - Jaipur ( By Road Approx 5 Hrs. Drive ) Enroute Visiting Fatehpur Sikri
Early morning at sunrise visit the magnificient Taj Mahal - one of the seven wonders of the world surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. Later come back to hotel and after breakfast drive to Jaipur-the fabled “pink city” of the desert named after Jai Singh, the former Maharaja of Jaipur. This is the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the universe through the nine rectangular sectors subdividing it. The palaces and forts of the yesteryears, which were witnesses to the royal processions and splendours are now living monuments enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri-a perfectly preserved red sandstone "ghost town" which was the estranged capital of mughal emperor Akbar, built in 1569 and deserted when its water supply failed. Arrive Jaipur in late evening & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Jaipur.
Day 5 : Jaipur
After a relaxed breakfast proceed for a morning excursion to Amber Fort. Elephant ride ascent to the fort.
AMBER FORT PALACE - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds it's ultimate expression. Continue sight-seeing.
CITY PALACE - A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.
JANTAR MANTAR - This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.
HAWA MAHAL - The ornamental facade of this “Palace of Winds” is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh was a royal grandstand for the palace women.
Day 6 : Jaipur - Delhi ( By Air-conditioned Train Dep 1745 Hrs Arr 2230 Hrs )
After breakfast visit JAIGARH FORT - The Western skyline is dominated by the extensive parkotas (Walls), watch-towers and gateways of Jaigarh. It is one of the few military structures of medieval India preserved almost intact containing palaces, gardens, open and covered reservoirs, a grannary, an armoury, a well planned cannon foundry, several temples, a tall tower and a giant mounted cannon the Jai Ban the largest in the Country. LAXMI NARAYAN TEMPLE - Situated in the south of Jaipur, Laxmi Narayan Temple is one of the many such temples built by wealthy Birla family in India, thus it is also known as Birla Mandir. The temple is a great reminder of the secular traditions India has shown over the centuries. The temple has been constructed in white marble and has three domes, each portraying the different approaches to religion. The temple is situated at the foot of Moti Doongri Fort, converted as a small palace by Ram Singh II for his wife Gayatri Devi.
ALBERT HALL MUSEUM - It is one of the ancient most and also popular museums of the city. Albert Hall Museum has its location in Ramnivas Gardens, a famous tourist spot of Jaipur. There are several reasons for which this Albert Hall Museum could be applauded. It is a treasure house of unusual and striking items. Design of the building itself is exquisite. The colossal structure, the exquisite architectural splendor still breathes the sighs of history. Being built following the Indo-Sarcenic style of architecture, it is full of numerous towers, courtyards and archways. Thus this Albert Hall Museum stands as a paradigm of rich heritage of culture of the country. The Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur is embellished with its numerous miniature paintings. These wonderful paintings have the belonging to various schools of paintings like Udaipur, Jaipur, Bundi, Kishangarh and Kota. Majestic portraits of royal Jaipur kings also find place in this museum. They are placed on the 1st floor of Central (Albert Hall) Museum. This adds fervor to this museum`s magnanimity. Amongst other precious artworks including its huge jewelry collection, metal artworks, carving deserve mentioning. Also several brass articles are found which are the proofs of expertise of craftsmen. Evening transfer to railway station to board the air conditioned train to Delhi, Dinner in the train. Arrive Delhi & transfer to hotel. Night stay in Delhi .
Day 7 : Delhi - Bagdogra ( By flight Kingfisher Airlines Dep. 10:30 hrs. Arriv. 14:20 hrs.)
Arrive Bagdogra and transfer to Darjeeling ( 94 Kms/3hrs), Night stay in Darjeeling.
Day 8 : Darjeeling
Early morning start for Trigger hill to watch the spectacular sunrise and its amazing effects on the Mt. Kanchendzo- nga (world 3rd highest). Visit Ghoom Monastery and Natasha Loop War Memorial while returning to the hotel. Breakfast at hotel followed by full day local sightseeing covering Padmajan. Zoological Garden, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Tibetan Refugee Self-help Center and visit to the all and Local Market (City Life). Enjoy the Historical Toy joy ride provided the train is running for the day. Night stay in Darjeeling.
Day 9 : Darjeeling - Bagdogra (By road) Bagdogra - Delhi (By flight Kingfisher Airlines Dep. 14:50 hrs.
Transfer to Bagdogra Airport (94 Kms/3hrs), to board the onward flight.
