Day 1 : Delhi
Flight to Delhi. Transfer to the hotel. Check in time is 1200 hrs.
Day 2 : Delhi
After breakfast sightseeing of Old and New Delhi.
Delhi has a blend of contemporary and mesmerizing government buildings, medieval palaces and bazaars that exist besides a modern metropolitan area.
Morning tour of Delhi visiting Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi), built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (1639-48 AD). Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana – cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru, and few minutes’ drive past Red Fort and Chandni Chowk.
Afternoon visit including sightseeing of Qutub Minar built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibek in 1199, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate (War Memorial Arch ), Lakshminarayan Temple. Few minutes’ drive past Parliament House, President's House, Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place shopping centre. Overnight stay in Delhi hotel.
Note: Red Fort remains closed on Monday.
Day 3 : Delhi/Sariska (200 km)
After breakfast drive through the country side and numerous villages. Arrive around lunch at the hotel Sariska Palace, built by the Maharaja of Alwar in 1902.
A late afternoon jeep safari through the Sariska wildlife park. The 480 sq km sanctuary comprises of dry deciduous forest of ber, dhok and tendu, set in a valley surrounded by the barren Aravli hills. The princely shooting reserve of the Maharaja of Alwar was declared a sanctuary in 1955 and is a tiger reserve under Project Tiger.
The main rhesus monkey population live at Talvriksh, whilst at Bhartri-Hari you will see many langurs. The chowsingha, or four-horned antelope, Other deer include chital and sambar. You may see nilgai, wild boar, jackals, hyenas, hares and procupines. If you are lucky you may see a tiger and leopard though they are difficult to spot. During the monsoon the place is alive with birds but many animals move to higher ground. There are ground birds such as peafowl, jungle fowl, spur fowl and the grey partridge. Babblers, bulbuls, and tree pies are common.
Overnight at Sariska.
Day 4 : Sariska/Jaipur (111 km)
Early morning another safari through the jungle.
After jeep safari, We will escort you by morning drive to Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan.
The city of Jaipur was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber in 18th century. During the British governance in India, the city was called princely state of Jaipur. The city was given an eye catching look with color coat of pink a century ago to honor a visiting Prince. Surprisingly, the city has still not lost its color.
Overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 5 : Jaipur
After morning breakfast, we will head to Amber Fort with an Elephant ride. Amber Fort is acknowledged for its exceptional blend of Hindu and Muslim (Mughal) artistic style as well as its metaphorical and wonderful artistic display. Catch the site of Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory decked by glittering mirrors.
Chokhi Dhani resort is famous for its construction in ethnical Rajasthani style. At evening, the resort is at full blast with various activities such as, puppet show, camel ride, handloom clothes, snake charmers and Rajasthani/continental Dinner.
Jantar Mantar, built by King Jai Singh II between 1727 and 1734 is also one of the main attractions of Jaipur. Jantar Mantar commonly known as observatory incorporates numerous buildings, equipped with a particular function for astronomical measurement. Overnight stay at the hotel in Jaipur.
Day 6 : Jaipur/Agra (232 kms)
On a way to Agra, we will visit Fatehpur Sikri.
Fatehpur Sikri is 40 kms away from Agra. The city was built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 but was abandoned after 15 years due to the scarcity of water. Today, the city is perfectly preserved as a ghost city. The city encompasses in its lap many awesome buildings including tomb of Salim Chisti, Jama Masjid and other gracefully designed palaces.
Continue drive to Agra. Agra city stood on the bank of Yamuna River in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The city, once the seat of the Mughal rulers is today known for its magnificent medieval monuments. Mughals’ addiction to constructing buildings rendered this city with some of the loveliest buildings in the world. Upon arrival at agra check in at hotel.
Overnight stay at Agra hotel.
Day 7 : Agra
After breakfast visit Taj Mahal.
Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shahjehan in 1630 to commemorate his deep love for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj being the truest icon of love was erected by strong work force of 20,000 labors, and skilled engineers, architects. The construction of the Taj was completed in 20 years. Needless to say, the Taj is one of the most sought after destinations of world tourists. Visit the Agra Fort which houses the Pearl Mosque, the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Later, visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah built by Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father.
Imp: Taj Mahal remains closed on Friday.
Day 8 : Agra/Delhi (204 kms)
After breakfast drive to Delhi.
On the way to Delhi visit Sikandra, 9 kilometer away from Agra city.
Sikandra is known for Akbar mausoleum built by him near city of Agra to represent his religious tolerance and secular views. That’s why the mausoleum is the perfect blend of Hindu, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist and Jain designs and decoration. The tomb is decked with three-stored red sandstone minarets which demonstrate amazing inlay work of marble on the four corners of the building.
The entrance of the tomb is decked with marble inlay-work around the arch. The inner surface of the dome of the tomb is decked with geometric designs, images of flowers, and Islamic calligraphy. Proceed to Delhi. On arrival in Delhi check in at the hotel.
Day 9 : Delhi/Home
Early morning transfer to the airport for the flight back home.
