This African safari package allows you to take in two iconic highlights of East Africa – the Great Wildebeest Migration and going trekking with Mountain Gorillas in Uganda. Along the way you will see some of the most beautiful scenery in Africa and get to experience some of the fascinating cultures of the region.
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport you will start with a Kigali city tour. The tour will take you to the Richard Kandt museum, Kigali genocide memorial site and then proceed to Kigali’s oldest neighborhood. Later you will have lunch transfer to Musanze and on arrival you will check in at the lodge. Mountain Gorilla view Lodge (Full Board)
Today your day begins with an early – 06:00 am – drive to the Volcanoes National Park offices for Gorilla Trekking briefing that takes place at 7:00 am. You will then start your walk at 8:00 am. Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young. After gorilla trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch. This afternoon you will enjoy cultural entertainment at ibyi iwacu cultural village. This morning after breakfast you will transfer back to Kigali for your flight to Nairobi. Overnight at Wildebeest Eco Camp.
After early breakfast drive to Maasai Mara Game Reserve, so named to mean the “spotted plains” in Maa language. This is home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and is widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate wildlife reserve. The park is the northern extension to the vast Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, famous for its annual migration of wildebeest. Transfer to the lodge with a game drive en route and after check-in enjoy hot lunch. Later in the evening enjoy a game viewing drive in this spectacular place of breathtaking sceneries, never-ending plains and the most abundant variety of wildlife remaining anywhere in the world. Today you will spend the whole day in the park. During your stay, you have the opportunity to explore this great reserve in depth. You may see elephant, giraffe, prides of lion, and thousands of impala, topi, grants and Thomson’s gazelle. Birds are prolific including immigrants, 450 bird species have been recorded among them 57 birds of prey. The Mara is the scene of annual migration of millions of wildebeest up from the Serengeti plains in search of water and grasses. All meals and overnight at Mara Concord Game Lodge.
Today you depart to Nairobi for your flight back to Kigali or home. You will have a last game drive en route.
