Day 1 : Arrive
Welcome to Berlin! You will be picked up and start your stay with a 3 hours city tour. This tour will lead you through Berlin's eastern city centre from the Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate. The tour offers a first overview over Berlin as a seat of government in past and present. Amongst others you will visit the area around Wilhelmstrasse as a centre of German politics with the Bundesrat and Ministry of Finance as well as the land representations. Other stops at the Office of the Federal Chancellor and at the Reichstag, the centre of the New Parliament and Government Quarter, as well as at the Spree curve are planned. After the city tour, our bus takes you back to your accommodation where dinner is served.
Day 2 : Berlin
After breakfast you go on an 8 hours excursion thrpugh Berlin. Together with one of our experienced city guides you will discover the political centre of the town. The visit of the Reichstag building forms the first highlight of the day. You listen to a 45 minutes talk in the plenary hall above the Reichstag building and the German Bundestag from an adviser of the Bundestag. (Attention: a registration is necessary about 3 months beforehand. Visits are only possible during weeks which are free of meetings!) Afterwards you visit the dome of the Reichstag. From here you have a fantastic look over Berlin which allows you to take an exciting time trip of Berlin of the last centuries to the Potsdamer Platz.
After lunch, a 1,5 - 2 hours city walking tour in the historical embassy quarter in Berlin Tiergarten offers you the opportunity to visit a huge number of diplomatic representations for example the Austrian, the Indian, the Japanese or the Nordic embassies. Perhaps, the entrance halls of different embassies can be visited from the inside as well.
Afterwards a 1 hour boat tour trough the government quarter and the historical centre of Berlin awaits you. Once again, many historical and modern government buildings can be admired from the water. Once you get of the boat, the bus takes you to the Pariser Platz at the Brandenburg Gate. Here you will also find embassy buildings such as those of France, Mexico, Great Britain and the United States of America. A 45 minute guided tour through the public rooms of the British embassy provides a deeper insight into the diplomatic sphere. For dinner, the bus takes you back to your accommodation.
Why not spend the evening in one of the numerous theatres, cabarets etc? If you speak German you could for example visit the Grips Youth theatre, with a very interesting choice of plays related to life in Berlin like "Linie 1".
Day 3 : Departure
Right after breakfast you will check out of the hotel and our bus takes you to the city centre. A guided visit of the Wall Museum gives you an understanding of the history of Berlin during the Cold War. At the famous border crossing "Checkpoint Charlie" you find an exhibition of the history of the Berlin Wall from the construction in 1961 up to the opening in 1989. Afterwards you can spend some time at Checkpoint Charlie and have a little snack before the bus brings you to the airport / train station.
