Elsa’s Kopjes - Named for Elsa, the orphaned lioness reared by George and Joy, this private hideaway is perched on top of Mugwongo Hill, the site of George Adamson’s first camp. This park is renowned for its low rainfall, yet at the same time thirteen rivers and numerous streams run off the nearby mountains to provide an arid landscape laced with ribbons of green. From your cottage you will enjoy a 270-degree view of the surrounding park with its scattered kopjes and mysterious baobab trees. The open plan rooms are individually designed, incorporating the rocks into the structure. Traditional African-made furniture, bright ikat fabrics and whitewashed walls are simple yet superbly comfortable and stylishly effective. There is a swimming pool and walks are accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist. The food is of a very high standard and the service is excellent.

Larsen’s Tented Camp - The experience at Larsen’s Tented Camp will contrast immensely in surroundings and the types of wildlife you will see. The camp is set in lush lawns on the bank of the Uaso Nyiro River, a life line for the Samburu National Reserve. Tranquillity and nature embrace you the minute you enter Larsen’s with the river being the perfect stage for an endless pageant of wildlife - elephants rolling and trumpeting in the shallows, timid impala nervously drinking, baboons and vervet monkeys swinging through the canopy of trees. An animal viewing platform in a tree lets you scan the vast Samburu plain.
