Day wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival at Chennai (Madras)

On arrival in Chennai, you will be met by a Kerala Backwater representative who will facilitate your transfer to the hotel. Relax for the remaining part of the day and brace yourself for a memorable Great India Tour.
Day 2 : Chennai - Mahabalipuram (Mammalapuram)

Embark on a morning sightseeing tour of Chennai. Visit attractions like Fort St. George, San Thome Cathedral and the museums that house an impressive collection of Chola bronzes and stone sculptures from South India. Drive to Mammalapuram also known as Mahabalipuram in the afternoon. This grand city was built in the 7th century and is a World Heritage site today. Check in at a hotel on arrival for an overnight stay.

Day 3 : Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram

On day 3 of the Great India Tour, enjoy a sightseeing tour after breakfast. Visit the Shore Temple, Arjuna's Penance & Five Rathas before driving to the golden city of Kanchipuram. Home to a thousand temples, it is one of the seven most sacred pilgrimage centers for Hindus. Drive back to Mahabalipuram for an overnight stay.
Day 4 : Mahabalipuram - Tanjore

As part of the Great India Tour, drive to Tanjore in the morning. On arrival, visit the Brihadewswara Temple that is also known as the 'Big Temple'. Built by the Chola kings, this impressive temple stands at a height of 216 feet. Stay overnight at a hotel in Tanjore.
Day 5 : Tanjore

Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before driving to the nearest airport / railway station to continue with your onward journey. You can also choose to extend your stay by indulging in another of the packages offered by Kerala Backwaters.
