The Thimphu Festival (Tsechu) is one of the grandest of Bhutan’s festivals and attracts the largest audience. Featuring dances performed by trained monks and laymen in amazing masks and costumes, Tsechus (festivals) are one of the best ways to experience the ancient living culture of Bhutan. A Tsechu is a Buddhist festival in honour of Guru Rimpoche, the saint who brought Buddhism to Bhutan. The Thimphu Tsechu was established by the 4th Temporal Ruler, Tenzing Rabgye (1638-1696) in 1670. This festival also provides a great opportunity to witness locals gathered in their finest Gho’s and Kira’s in a celebration of their culture and faith. This tour also visits sacred sites in Paro, Thimphu and Punakha.
Day 1 : Arrive in PARO
The flight into Paro on our national carrier, Druk Air or Bhutan Air line is a befitting introduction to the spectacular beauty of our country. In clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks, give way to the lush green Paro valley as you land. Day 2 : PARO – PUNAKHA
Today we will drive to Punakha over Dochula pass. The drive will take about 5hours. On the way, a drive takes us all the way up to Dochu La (3050m) to witness the magnificent view of the eastern Himalayan range (weather permitting). Dochu La is marked with 108 stupas built in memory of soldiers who lost their lives during military action against Assamese rebels and also visit Druk wangyel lhakang. Luch at Dochula Cafeteria. Drive continues to Punaka With thick vegetation and beautiful paddy fields, Punakha is one of the most beautiful valley in Bhutan. Visit PunakhaDzong built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1638 at the confluence of Phochu (Male) and Mochu (female) rivers.
Dinner and over night stay in hotel, Punakha.
Day 3 : PUNAKHA – THIMPHU
Morning hike about 45 minutes, After breakfast at the hotel, drive about ten kilometers north of Punakha, on a hill rock called Nyizergang, HM the Queen Ashi Tshering Yangden had built three stored chorten called Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten consecrated in December 1999.
On the way return back stop for short hike to chimilhakgang(fertility temple) and retrace or journey back by stopping at dochula for lunch.
After lunch drive to Thimphu , visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom built in 1627 by Zhabdrung Ngawang namgyel, it now houses the School for Buddhist studies.

Day 4 : THIMPHU (Festival)
Enjoy by witnessing the Thimphu Festival. Lunch hotel in Thimphu. After Festival, towards the evening visit memorial Chorten built in 1974 in memory of the late third King of Bhutan Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and Changangkha Lhakhang.
Dinner and overnight stay hotel, Thimphu.
Day 5 : THIMPHU -PARO
Enjoy by witnessing the Thimphu Festival. Lunch hotel in Thimphu and After Lunch visit National Heritage museum, National Handicraft center.
Towards the evening drive to paro.

Day 6 : Paro(Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery)
Your day start with the excursion hike to famous Taktsang monastery located on a cliff 3000ft above Paro valley. After breakfast drive to the starting point of the hike from the hotel.
Taktsang (tigers nest) was first blessed by Guru Rimpoche when he visited the place riding on a flying tigress in 8th century. Guru Rimpoche is believed to be meditated in this cave for three months. Later Gyalse Tenzin Rabgye, 4th Druk Desi built a monastery on the same location.
The hike is around three hours walk to the monastery, plus two and half hours visiting around with lunch hour and one hour way back to the road head.
On the way back from hike you can visit kichu Lhakhang which is one of Bhutan's oldest and most beautiful temples.
Day 7 : Departure
After breakfast in the hotel, drive to the airport in time to catch your onward flight. Your escort from Bhutan View Tours & Travels will escort your group till the Flight departure.
