This tour starts at the quaint fishing village of Falmouth and shows you both natural and historical attractions of the lovely island of Jamaica.
The first stop is Columbus Park, a small park overlooking the Caribbean Sea, which consists of ruins of buildings from the early Spanish colonial period and interesting artifacts from early Jamaican life. It is home to some of the best views of the island.
Next you will experience the Green Grotto Caves. Rich in history, the caves can be identified with different groups of inhabitants starting from the Arawak Indians (Tainos), the first Jamaicans who found shelter there, and runaway slaves seeking refuge and smugglers who ran arms to Cuba during the two World Wars.
The central feature of this natural formation is a large labyrinthine limestone cave with numerous rock formations, stalactites, stalagmites and abundance of overhead ceiling pockets.
Green Grotto is 1,525 meters long and 12 meters deep and is characterized by numerous chambers and light holes and a subterranean lake - the Grotto Lake - occupies its bowels
