Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Mumbai

    Welcome to the commercial capital of India and on arrival at Mumbai, you will be acknowledged and shifted to your hotel for overnight stay. Overnight haul in Mumbai.

  • Day 2 : Mumbai - sightseeing

    Mumbai or Bombay, as it was previously known as India's city of dreams. We take pleasure in a full day city sightseeing including the Gateway of India monument, the Prince of Wales museum, Marine Drive, Mani Bhawan Jain temple and the Elephanta Caves. On day 3, early in the morning we take a guided Heritage Walk before visiting the Afghani Church and holy Banganga Temple and water tank in the afternoon. Tonight we enjoy a picturesque horse and buggy ride by the side of Marine drive in the direction of Chowpatty Beach. Overnight stay in Mumbai.

  • Day 3 : Mumbai - sightseeing

  • Day 4 : Ahmadabad - Dasada

    Board your flight to Ahmadabad and on arrival drive to Dasada. Late-afternoon accelerate in the Little Rann of Kutch, a sanctuary for the scarce Asiatic Wild Ass. Mammals of the Rann other than the wild ass, there are probability of seeing nilgai, chinkara gazelle, white-footed desert and Indian foxes, the wolf, jungle cat (occasionally also desert cat), pale and long-eared hedgehogs and hare. Desert and variable wheatears, southern grey, long-tailed, rufous-tailed and bay-back shrike, common woodshrike are also likely sightings and the desert warbler is among the many winter visiting warblers. We will also explore out chestnut-bellied and spotted sand grouse, Indian courser (cream-colored visits occasionally), quails, yellow-legged and barred buttonquails, grey francolin, wryneck, brown-rock chat, pied bush chat, rufous-tailed scrub robin, blue-headed rock thrush, black redstart and buntings in the scrubby regions. At day's end, it is likely to watch marsh, Montagu and pallid harriers, aquila eagles, falcons and buzzards going for their sites.

  • Day 5 : Rann of Kutch

    Morning drive to the lofty area in the Rann enclosed with scrub and grass. During winters, this is the expected area for Macqueen's bustard. Long-legged, common and white-eyed buzzard, booted eagle, Bonneli's eagle. short-toed snake eagle, are frequently observed during the expedition. In evening visit to Nawa Talao, a pond where demoiselle and common crane get together in large flock.

  • Day 6 : Dasada - Bhuj

    Move from Dasada to Bhuj en-routing excellent marshland and dry land bird habitations. Stay at Hotel Prince or alike.

  • Day 7 : Bhuj - Moti Virani

    Travel from Bhuj to Moti Virani. Reside at CEDO Camp, a vital facility given by a conservation organization. Visit the perch of the Grey Hypoculius at Fulay, one of the few spots where this bird can be viewed in India.

  • Day 8 : Banni Grasslands

    Visit the Banni region, India's largest plain area. This is one of the significant bird spot with a great attention on aquila and other eagles. The water animals here are known for their large groups of waterfowl.

  • Day 9 : Lala Bustard Sanctuary

    A day drive to the enormous Indian Bustard Sanctuary close to Naliya. These plains are the home of the rare Indian bustard, white-naped tit, stolickza's bushchat, and a other species of birds. Chinkaras and Indian wolf are expected to be observed here. Back to CEDO camp.

  • Day 10 : Moti Virani - Mandvi

    Travel to Mandvi. Tour the coastal areas for birding. Take pleasure in the evening at the Mandvi beach.

  • Day 11 : Mandvi - Jamnagar

    Trip to Jamnagar. In evening, visit to Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary, a likely home for the Indian skimmer. This sanctuary is a breeding place for numerous species of birds that do not shell somewhere else in peninsular India. Stay at Hotel President.

  • Day 12 : Jamnagar

    Trip to coastal regions by the side of the Gulf of Kutch, one of the best birding expanses all along the Indian coastline. You are expected to witness crab-plover, Kentish plover, oystercatcher, ruddy turnstone, broad-billed sandpiper, sanderling, dunlin, curlew sandpiper, black-headed gull, Pallas' gull, temmincks stint, lesser-crested tern, gull-billed tern, common tern, little tern, black-bellied tern, whiskered tern, whiskered tern, darters, western reef egret and other birds could also be seen on this way. Stay at Hotel President.

  • Day 13 : Jamnagar - Gondal

    Drive to Gondal and reside at the Riverside Palace/Orchard Palace. These heritage hotels are excellent for birding with many species coming in to the orchards and on the river-banks. Move to the plains where there is probability of witnessing Eurasian eagle-owl, Montagu harrier, short-eared owl, rock bush quail, ashy-crowned sparrow-lark, southern grey and rufous-tailed shrike, pipits, pied bushchat, among other birds. The lakes of Gondal draw attention towards large group of demoiselle and familiar cranes, white pelicans, ducks, and other birds.

  • Day 14 : Gondal - Gir

    Subsequent to breakfast, drive to Gir and take a mini-bus tour of the Interpretation Zone, an enclosed cross-section of Gir locale. Dinner and overnight in a private orchard of Gir with a jungle view.

  • Day 15 : Gir

    A land of arid deciduous forests, acacia scrub and grassland, fed by rivers and reservoirs, Gir is the last home to the Asiatic lion and has a booming populace of panther (leopard), sambar, chital (spotted deer), nilgai (blue bull antelope) and wild boar. Those concerned with herpetology can trip the crocodile breeding farm at Sasan.

  • Day 16 : Gir - Velavadar

    Early in the morning, checkout for Velavadar National Park. Famous for its outsized blackbuck antelope population, Velavadar is among those few places where the wolf is growing in India however they are hardly ever observed during the day-time. Reside at Nilambag Palace/Narayani Heritage at Bhavnagar or the Blackbuck Lodge at Velavadar.

  • Day 17 : Bhavnagar - Ahmedabad

    Morning bird-watching at Bhavnagar together with the port areas, lakes and Victoria Park. After that, return back to Ahmadabad to board your flight to Mumbai and linking flight back home.
