Guwahati-Shillong-Cherrapunji-Nameri & Kaziranga Tour

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive Guwahati

  Our representative will meet and greet you at Guwahati airport or railway station. Transfer to the hotel and enjoy rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 2 : Guwahati - Shillong

  After breakfast we will drive to Shillong. En-route we will visit Barapani Umiam Lake, a majestic placid lake surrounded by sylvan hills. Upon arrival, check into a hotel.

• Day 3 : Shillong – Cherrapunjee

  Early in the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Cherrapunjee, which is barely 65 km from Shillong. It is the wettest destination in the world and on your drive to Cherrapunjee, you will come across roaring waterfalls diving into unfathomable gorges. Upon arrival, check into a hotel. Later, we will visit the famous Nohsngithiang Falls, Nohkalikai Falls and Mawsmai Cave. Return to the hotel by evening for an overnight stay.
  
  Officially known as Sohra, Cherrapunjee is 56 km from Shillong. It is a must visit destination for all tourists. It was the headquarters of the Khasi & Jaintia province during the British rule before shifting to Shillong in 1864. This was due to the inconvenience caused by excessive rain during the monsoon months.

• Day 4 : Cherrapunjee (trip to Living Roots Bridge- Double Decker)

  Early in the morning after breakfast, we will go on a guided trek to visit the Double Decker living Routes Bridge, the most brilliant of all the living bridges found in the world. The trek from the resort will take about 05 hours.
  
  The scenery of the places is beyond description. Your will get amazed by walking over the roots that can appear quite scary in the beginning. However, the picturesque forest all around and the pleasant sound of waterfalls will compensate that scary feeling with unmatched glee.
  Return to the resort by evening for enjoying a comfortable overnight stay.

• Day 5 : Cherrapunjee – Shillong

  We will head back to Shillong in the afternoon and en-route will visit the Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak. Upon arrival at Shillong, we will transfer you to a hotel for overnight stay.

• Day 6 : Shillong – Guwahati

  Drive to Guwahati after breakfast. Upon reaching, check into a hotel. Fresh-n-up and then we will go for a sightseeing tour of Guwahati. The tour will include a visit to the sacred Kamakhya Devi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya or Mata Sati. This shrine is located on the Nilachal Hill and is divided into 3 chambers. The western chamber is not accessible to the public. Further, the central chamber contains a small idol of the goddess, images of Naranarayana and other religious inscriptions. The main hall of the temple is shaped like a cave, and is accessible through the middle hall. This sanctum does not contain any idol, but has a natural underground spring emanating from a huge rock. The annual 7-day Ambubachi Festival is very famous here, which is held in the month of June.
  
  Later, we will visit the Navagraha Temple, situated within Chitrashal Hill. The temple is dedicated to the nine planets and hipped in red shape. In the evening we will enjoy the sunset cruise over Brahmaputra. Overnight stay at the hotel.

• Day 7 : Guwahati – Nameri

  In the morning we will proceed to the Nameri National Park, situated within the foothills of eastern Himalayas. Upon reaching, transfer to a nature camp. After lunch we will go on a nature trail along the reserve. Here we will be accompanied with a knowledgeable forest guide and armed forest guards. The forest treks are the best way to explore the Nameri National Park as it allows you to get very close to the wildlife. If you get lucky, you might get the chance of sighting some rare fauna species like white-winged wood ducks and the great hornbills.
  
  Return to the camp by evening. In the evening you are free to visit the nearby Pygmy Hog Foundation and learn about the species. The Pygmy Hogs are one of the world’s most endangered mammals.
  Overnight stay in the camp.

  • Hotspots : Nameri National Park

• Day 8 : Nameri

  This morning we will go on an exciting river rafting eon Jia Bhoroli River. For the same we will drive 25 km from the resort towards the river upstream and from there we will enjoy the downstream rafting on the inflatable raft. Here we will get a chance to see lots of migratory waterfowls and if you get lucky then can even spot the Royal Bengal Tigers and the Elephants on the banks of the river.
  
  After river rafting, return to the camp site for lunch. After lunch we will go on nature trek to see more of wildlife or you can also go for angling. Overnight stay at Nameri.

• Day 9 : Nameri – Kaziranga

  After breakfast we will leave for Kaziranga National Park, the Rhinos country and a World Heritage Site. Upon arrival at Kaziranga, we will check into a wildlife resort.
  
  Fresh-n-up and then we will go on a guided tour in the forest near your accommodation along the river bank. Also visit the tea garden and rubber plantation. Later return to the resort for overnight stay.

• Day 10 : Kaziranga

  Get up early for safari into the forest. Our representative will take you to the riding point by jeeps. Here we will be carried through the tall grass. Meanwhile the morning mists will slowly lift leading to an experience that one cannot forget easily. The wildlife safari is best mean for viewing wildlife as the wild animals are not afraid of the themselves and possible we can have the glance of them from the very close.
  
  Return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast, we will go for jeep safari in the national park for wildlife viewing in the central zone.
  
  Later return to the resort for unwinding yourself and having lunch. After lunch we will go on our second jeep safari of the day, this time we will visit the Western zone of the national park. One can also spend some time at the Donga view point, situated in western zone. Return to the resort for overnight stay.

• Day 11 : Kaziranga – Guwahati - Departure

  After our breakfast we will drive to Guwahati airport or railway station for onward connection with cherishing memories of the tour.
