Package Overview

Steve Kroschel's Wildlife Center in Haines provides an opportunity to get close and personal with Alaskan wildlife. While most guests visit the center as part of a large group tour, this is a rare opportunity for a private visit. Our private tour allows you and your family or group to spend quality time with Alaskan mammals such as wolf, lynx, wolverine, moose, porcupine and a variety of other Alaskan species. These animals are extremely challenging to see in the wild, especially at close proximity.

Meet your knowledgeable and friendly local guide for a drive up the Haines Highway, declared a National Scenic Byway, and through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. The drive provides views of glacier-clad mountains, colorful wildflowers line the road, and green riverside channels provide habitat for moose, bear and trumpeter swans. Bald eagles are often seen and we will have time for some photo stops along the way.

Being a private tour, you will have more flexibility in terms of how much time you spend with each species, and you won't have to work your way around other guests for photography. You will spend at least one and one half hours at the Wildlife Center.
Then enjoy a picnic lunch on your way back to Haines.

Included: picnic style lunch of turkey sandwich on fresh baked bread, fruit, freshly baked cookie, and bottled water. Vegetarian and gluten free options are available with advance notice.

Please Note: Minimum of 4 passengers required to book. Actual species visited depend on availability and can change with each tour. There is some up uphill walking involved, therefore not wheelchair accessible.
Duration: 4 hours (Roundtrip from cruise ship terminal.)
