Our representative will pick up you from Bangalore and drive to Hampi, located on the banks of river Tungabhadra in Bellary district. Hampi was once the capital of Vijayanagar Empire and one of the richest and largest cities in the world during its prime, now the ruins. On arrival at Hospet, check in to the hotel. If time permits, visit Tungabhadra dam or at leisure. Overnight stay in the hotel / resort.
After Breakfast, drive to Hampi for Sightseeing (Virupaksha Temple, Kadale Kalu Ganesha, Sasive Kalu Ganesha, Krishna Temple, Lakshmi Narasimha, Badavi Linga, Sister Stones, Underground Temple, Mint House, Lotus Mahal, Elephant Stables, Hazara Rama Temple, Palace Area, Mahanavami Dibba, Queen's Bath). After Lunch visit Vijaya Vittala Temple (Stone Chariot), King's Balance, Purandara Mantapa, Old Pillar Bridge and evening return to the hotel and overnight stay in the hotel.
Morning after breakfast, check out the hotel and drive to Bijapur, a well-known city for its historical monuments of architectural importance built during the rule of the Adil Shahi dynasty. On arrival, check in to the hotel and afternoon visit Gol Gumbaz, the mausoleum of Muhammad Adil Shah known for its amazing dimensions and unique acoustic features. Jamia Masjid, built by Adil Shah in 1578 and this is one of the largest mosques in South India. Ibrahim Roza, the tomb of Ibrahim Adil Shah II (ruled 1580-1627), the fifth king of the dynasty. Malike-e-Maidan, largest medieval cannon in the world 4 m long, 1.5 m in diameter and weighing 55 tons. Then visit Upari Burj and Bara Kaman. Evening, return to the hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.
Morning after breakfast, check out the hotel drive to Kudalasangama, the Aikya Mantapa or the holy Samādhi of Basavanna, the founder of the Lingayath faith along with Shiva Linga, which is believed to be self-born (Swayambhu), is here. Then proceed to visit Aihole, a popular tourist spot known for Chalukyan architecture, with about 125 stone temples dating from 5th century CE. Then visit Pattadakal, a UNESCO world heritage site, well known for Chalukya monuments. Then visit Banashankari (Banashankari Temple), Mahakuta (Mahakuteshwara Temple) and finally drive to Badami. Badami was formerly known as Vatapi, was the regal capital of the Badami Chalukyas from 540 to 757 AD. On arrival at Badami, visit famous rock cut structural temples. Evening, check in to the hotel and overnight stay at the temple.
Morning after breakfast, check out the hotel drive to Lakkundi, a place of antiquarian interest with as many temples, 101 stepped wells (also called as Kalyani) and 29 inscriptions, spread over the period of the later Chalukyas, Kalachuris, Seuna and the Hoysalas. On arrival at Lakkundi, visit Brahma Jinalaya (Jain Temple) a chalukyan style temple built in 1007 AD. Then visit Kasivisveshwara Temple (the most ornate and elaborately furnished), Surya Temple, Manikeswara Temple, Stepped Wells, Nannesvara Temple and Naganatha Temple.
Itagi Temple After visiting these temples drive to Itagi, a well-known place for Mahadeva Temple. The Mahadeva Temple built in 1112 AD by Mahadeva, a commander in the army of the Western Chalukya King Vikramaditya VI. The well-executed sculptures, finely crafted carvings on walls, pillars and the tower make it a good example of complete Western Chalukyan art. An inscription dated 1112 CE in the temple calls it Emperor among Temples (Devalaya Chakravarti). The temple is protected as a national monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. Then drive to Chitradurga. On arrival at Chitradurga, check in to the hotel and overnight stay at the hotel.
Morning after breakfast, check out the hotel and visit the popular Chitradurga Fort, a fortification that straddles several hills and a peak overlooking a flat valley in the Chitradurga. The fort was built between the 17th and 18th centuries by the dynastic rulers of the region. The fort is locally known as Kallina Kote (Stone Fortress) and Yelusuttina Kote (Seven Circles Fort). The fort was built as an impregnable fortification for defense purposes with 19 gateways, 38 posterior entrances, 35 secret entrances, four invisible passages, water tanks and 2000 watch towers to guard and keep vigil on the enemy incursions. The storage warehouses, pits and reservoirs were primarily designed to ensure the food, water and military supplies required to endure a long siege. Uniquely, all these facilities are still well conserved. After lunch, drive to Bangalore, on arrival at Bangalore, you will be transferred to the Airport or Railway station or Hotel. Trip ends with the delightful memories of historical and heritage sites of North Karnataka.
