the magnificent Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, then travelling through the beautiful Trossachs (Scotland’s Lakeland) stopping to visit Rob Roy’s Grave and the pretty village of Killin. From there you will head to the fishing port of Oban where you will spend the next two nights. Oban has a great selection of speciality shops, seafood restaurants and bars. .
Your journey continues to the beautiful Isle of Mull then a 1 hour drive to the South of the island and on to the Isle of Iona with its stunning Abbey, a place of pilgrimage for over 1400 years. A boat trip to the small island of Staffa to view Fingal’s cave and nesting Puffin’s can be included to the day. You’ll return to Oban again in the evening.
From Oban your journey continues to the iconic Castle Stalker and the spectacular mountains of Glencoe and on to Fort William, passing the magnificent Glenfinnan Viaduct, (photo stop), perhaps spotting the Jacobite Steam train (The Harry Potter Train) as it travels to Mallaig? From there you’ll follow the ‘Road to the Isles’ taking in the beaches at Morar and Arisaig with their unrivalled views of The Small Isles of Muck, Eigg, Rum and Canna. At Mallaig you will catch the short ferry ‘Over the sea to Skye’.
Skye highlights will include;- The imposing Cuillin Mountain Range – visible from most parts of the island; The spectacular Trotternish Peninsula with wonderful views of dramatic pinnacles the ‘Old Man of Storr’, Kilt Rock and The Quirang, The Museum of Highland Life, and Flora MacDonald’s Monument, the mysterious Fairy Glen, the impressive Dunvegan Castle, and the 2,000 yr old Dun Beag Broch.
Leaving the island by way of the Skye Bridge, we visit the iconic Eilean Donan Castle with plenty of time for photo opportunities, and a tour, then travel through the beautiful Glenshiel Mountains to the enchanting Loch Ness with its famous resident ‘Nessie’ and on to Inverness where you will spend the evening. There are a good selection of restaurants in the city but they can get busy and booking is essential. Your guide will be able to assist you.
a visit to the Culloden Battlefield where you can explore its fascinating story then a stop at Clava Cairns, a 3,500-year-old burial site. You will then head through the Cairngorm Mountain Range and into Perthshire, stopping at the pretty Victorian town of Pitlochry, The Hermitage waterfall and Dunkeld Cathedral, the before making our way back to your accommodation, where we sadly say our farewells.
