Day 1 : Coimbatore – Ooty
Arrival Coimbatore airport/railway station by any convenient flight/Train from Home. You are picked up from the Airport/Railway station or from any location in Coimbatore by the representative of Halo Backwaters for your journey in Tamil Nadu.
Early morning travel by road to Ooty. Ooty, the Scotland of the East, is one of the most popular holiday destinations in South India. Go discover an Ooty that veils herself in season. Ooty has plenty of attractions, both on and off the beaten path. The Botanical Garden are well laid out with avenues of shady trees and myriad ornamental plants and flowers. But the main attraction here is the fossilized tree trunk – all of 20 million years old. Overnight stay at Ooty.
Day 2 : Ooty
Move through the tea gardens spread like a green carpet over hundreds of kilometers. Lush green hills all around - a place difficult to describe. The Rose Garden, atop a hill off Etiennes Road, is all of 10 acres. In winter, when the 1919 varieties of roses of all hues are out, a stroll in this scented garden is an unforgettable experience.
John Sullivan, the first Collector and virtual founder of Ooty, constructed 2½ km long artificial lake in 1824.There is a charming lake garden, a jetty, snack bars and pony and toy train rides on offer for the kiddies. Other attractions are Doddabetta Peak and St, Stephen’s Church.Doddabetta Peak is the highest in Tamil Nadu.Lies at the juction of Western & Eastern Ghats at 2633 M above sea level. Day 3 : Ooty
After breakfast drive to Coonoor.This really is a charming hamlet. Once you are in upper Coonoor,it is easy to chill out, take leisurely trips to the nearby tourist gawk - spots, trek to your heart's content in and around the sholas - the gallery forests of the Blue Mountains - and of course, down endless cups of Nilgiri - grown tea or coffee.
Take a sight seeing of Sim's Park, Lamb’s Rock, Dolphin’s Nose and Catherine Falls. Overnight stay at Ooty.
Day 4 : Ooty - Coimbatore
Early morning transfer to Ooty (Udhagamandalam) railway station to catch the famous narrow - gauge Nilgiri Blue Mountain Railway climbs down from Ooty Mettupalayam on the plains,via Hillgrove and Coonoor to Mettupalayam ,a journey of 46 km passing through sixteen tunnels,eleven stations and nineteen bridges.
Upon arrival at Mettupayalam, transfer to the hotel at Coimbatore.
Coimbatore is a large sprawling industrial city with wide orderly roads.It is indeed a good place to halt en route to Niligiri hill station.Overnight stay at Coimbatore.Overnight stay at Coimbatore.
Day 5 : Coimbatore - Kodaikanal
After breakfast check out and drive to Kodaikanal-situated on the southern crest of the Palani Hills at an altitude of 2100 M is this charming retreat of Kodikanal.Set up as a sanatorium in 1845 by the American Madura Mission,Kodai holds a unique distination.It happens to be the only hill station in India to be established by Americans.Overnight stay at Kodaikanal.
Day 6 : Kodaikanal
The town is a maze of churches, hotels, restaurants, touts and homemade signs advertising homemade chocolates. No sightseeing tour of Kodai can commence without the customary amble down Croaker’s Walk a strip of paves road on the steep southern mountainside. Later take sight seeing of Kodai visiting the Bryants Park, Green Vally View Point, Pillar Rock, Silver Cascade. Overnight stay at Kodaikanal.
Day 7 : Kodai - Thekkady
Get ready after breakfast for your morning drive to Thekkady (Periyar) nestled in spice and rubber plantations. Known to be Kerala's pride and testimony to nature's splendor, Periyar has a lot to offer in terms of wildlife. Periyar is famous for its rare habitat of birds and animals and is one of the most popular destinations for nature lovers. Check in to your resort and get ready for your trip to cardamom hills where you could have a closer look at the spice plantations.
Later in the evening enjoy Kathakali dance presentation. Kathakali (literally, story play), the spectacular classical dance drama of Kerala based on the guidelines laid by Saga Bharatha's Natya Sastra,the ancient treatise on dance and drama, is over 500 years old. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 8 : Thekkady
After breakfast visit at Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary one of India's biggest wildlife sanctuaries covering 777 sq. Km (300 Sq. miles) is a Tiger Reserve. Its centre piece, the man-made Periyar Lake at the height of 2000 ft. covers 26 sq. km, running through the forests of the Western Ghats in Kerala, discover the park, animals found here include elephant, sambar, gaur and wild boars and birds like ibis and grey heron.
The visit is done in a boat to view animals with a bit of extra luck we may be able to see the rare tiger as well. A boat ride on the lake is a delightful way of spotting elephants and avifauna. If you are forunate, you might even spot the pride of the sanctuary, the tiger. Although tiger sightings are not very common, there are enough of these magnificent felines around (Boat ride is depend upon the availability of the cruise (Cost of this tour is Extra)).
Later on proceed to visit the Elephant Junction or Elephant Camp. This is a unique experience, seated atop an elephant; guests are taken along trails into the depths of the cardamom, pepper, coffee and tea plantation. The ride can be a miss of moments of pure terror interspersed with long perid of utter peace. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 9 : Thekkady - Munnar
Get ready after breakfast for your morning drive to Munnar, where sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, trekking and holiday facilities make it a unique experience. Check in to your resort and get ready for the special trip to Pothamedu for an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The breath taking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks. Return to your resort in the evening.
Day 10 : Munnar
This morning after breakfast, visit Mattupetty famous for its highly specialized dairy farm, the Indo-Swiss live stock project. Proceed to Mattupetty lake and dam, which is a very beautiful picnic spot. You could enjoy boating in the lake and View Mountains and landscapes from afar. Onwards proceed to Echo point famous for the natural echo phenomenon and then to Top Station offering marvelous views of Munnar valley below.
Say hello to the Nilgiri Tahr.Half the world population of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr lives in the Eravikulam National Park at Munnar.Friendly as they are, you can pat them or pose for pictures with them. So meet them and have plenty to brag about back home.Overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 11 : Munnar - Kochi
Get ready after breakfast for your drive to Kochi.Till recently, Kochi was Cochin, and only half as frenetic. It was a lagoon that made Kochi as cherished destination as far back as the early 16th century and it is the same lagoon that makes Kochi one of the nation's busiest port now. On the way visiting Cheyyappara Waterfalls, viewpoints etc.
After lunch in the hotel proceed for the sightseeing in and around Kochi. The most important heritage sightseeing is in Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. You will need a couple of hours of leisurely walks to take in this heritage quarter. The heritage quarter are includes Santa Cruz Basilica, Princess Street, St.Francis, Dutch Cemetery, Jew Street, Pardesi Synagogue and Chinese Fishing net.
Day 12 : Kochi - Airport/Railway Station
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kochi airport/railway station to catch the flight/train to home. On departure the tour concludes with happy memories. Tour Concludes.
