A hot air balloon flight over the Masai Mara plains offers a truly unforgettable experience, allowing guests to take in the stunning savannah at dawn. The adventure begins around 6 a.m., as the balloon silently glides over the Mara's iconic landscapes, providing a unique vantage point to spot wildlife below. The flight lasts approximately one hour and concludes with a special "Champagne Bush Breakfast" served at the landing site in the wilderness. Each balloon is piloted by a fully qualified and experienced pilot, with balloons typically manufactured by Cameron Balloons, a specialist British company. Basket sizes vary and are generally limited to 16 passengers or fewer, making advance bookings essential due to high demand.
Early Start:
Passengers should be ready at their Lodge or Camp reception desks between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m.
Pick-up times vary depending on the distance from the take-off site. Transfer to Take-Off Site:
Guests will be transferred by road to the take-off location.
Balloon Flight Timing:
The balloon typically takes off between 6:00 and 6:15 a.m.
During the flight, passengers will glide over different parts of the Mara Reserve, spotting wildlife below.
Bush Breakfast:
Upon landing (about an hour later), guests will enjoy a sit-down breakfast in the bush.
Breakfast includes a full hot meal, waiting staff service, and sparkling wine or champagne.
Return to Hotel:
After breakfast, guests will be dropped off at their hotel.
The return includes a brief game drive en route to the hotel."
