The ICEHOTEL lies in the heart of Swedish Lapland, in the middle of the auroral zone, is possibly the best place in the world to observe the Aurora Borealis - the mystical Northern Lights. Go on the hunt by bus, snowmobile or on an overnight tour.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : ARRIVAL KIRUNA - ICEHOTEL JUKKASJARVI

  Arrival in Kiruna. You will be met and transferred by taxi to the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjarvi (Kiruna-Jukkasjarvi 17 km), or you can take an optional Snowmobile or Dog sleigh transfer. When checking in at the ICEHOTEL (normal check in time is 5:00 pm) you will get a guided tour of the ICEHOTEL. You will also be given "sleeping instructions". Overnight in your Ice room in a cozy sleeping bag and reindeer skins. The ice room has a classic design and holds a temperature of -5 to -8 degrees Celsius. The bed you sleep on has a thick mattress that rests on a wooden base. The bed is covered with reindeer hides and you sleep in a thermal sleeping bag. Instead of doors the hotel rooms have curtains that you draw to give you and your company privacy. In Dressing Room, the warm building adjacent to Icehotel, you will find communal changing rooms, toilets and saunas for women and men. Your luggage is stored in the luggage storage room prior to your overnight stay. ICEHOTEL (cold room)

• Day 2 : ICEHOTEL - EVERYDAY LIFE OF A MUSHER

  Tuesday Room service wake up with a hot berry drink. Start your day with a sauna and a buffet breakfast at the Jukkasjarvi Inn. Morning is free. At 11:00 your husky adventure begins with an exclusive excursion where you get an insight in a musher's exciting everyday life. Take a seat in the sled, experience the howling dogs, and then the silence when the journey begins. Your dog team* takes you through the snow covered, arctic landscape to an isolated wilderness camp located far off the beaten track. Transfer and a traditional wilderness lunch served in a wilderness camp are included. Overnight in your comfortable double room at Kaamos Hotel or cozy room at Arctic Chalet or Nordic Chalet. *Dog sledding with 12 dogs and with a sled for 4 participants, one guide per dog sled team. ICEHOTEL (warm accommodation)

• Day 3 : ICEHOTEL - SNOWMOBILE - NORTHERN LIGHTS

  Wednesday Swedish buffet breakfast. Day is free to join an optional excursion. There is a host of winter activities to choose from, such as Arctic wildlife safari in search of moose, reindeer safari, ice fishing, or cross-country skiing. One of the highlights of your journey to the ICEHOTEL is a hunt for the Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights. This evening 7:00pm we set out on a guided snowmobile excursion in cooperation with the Swedish Institute of Space Physics, the Abisko Sky Station, in search for the magical Northern Lights. Aurora Sky Station lies in the middle of the auroral zone, and is considered to be the best place on earth to see the Aurora Borealis. Situated on Mount Nuolja, 900 meters above sea level, in an area with very few distracting sources of light or sound. During the excursion our trained guides will tell you truths and tales about the mythical celestial phenomenon. A three-course dinner with local ingredients served in a wilderness camp is included. Overnight in your comfortable double room or cozy room at Arctic Chalet or Nordic Chalet. ICEHOTEL (warm accommodation)

• Day 4 : DEPARTURE JUKKASJARVI - KIRUNA

  Thursday Breakfast at the hotel restaurant before your transfer to the Kiruna Airport. Your adventure to the ICEHOTEL, voted Sweden's best travel experience, has come to an end.
