Day 1 : Reykjavik
Arrive Reykjavik and proceed to the hotel on your own. Overnight at the hotel
Day 2 : Pingvellir – South Shore
The tour begins with a drive past the Nesjavellir geothermal area to lake Pingvallavatn, Icelands largest lake, and Pingvellir National Park, the ancient time of the parliament. Continue along the South shore and stop at the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss before continuing to Dyrolaey nature reserve (closed during nesting season in spring). Continue to the Vik area.
Day 3 : Vik – Skaftafell National Park – Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon – Hofn
Cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of Lava ever to Flow on Earth is Historical time, before reaching the small village Kirkjubaejarklaustur, an old Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skeioararsandur sands to Skaftafell National Park. Continue to Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon.
Day 4 : Hofn – East Fjords – Egilsstaoir
From Hofn drive over the heights of Almannaskaro pass past Lonsoraefi. A mountainous wilderness ringed by extinct volcanoes. On to towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords. Visit Petra’s stone collection before reaching Egilsstaoir
Day 5 : Egilsstaoir – Lake Myvatn
Across the empty vastness of the highland desert plateau Morudalsoraefi, to Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Continue towards Namaskaro pass with boiling mud pools and flashing colours. Explore the natural beauty of Lake Myvatn area, with highlights such as Dimmuborgir, the pseudocraters near Skutustaoir and the Salmon River Laxa.
Day 6 : Lake Myvatn – Akureyri
Head towards Akureyri with a stop at Gooafoss waterfall. Akureyri boasts some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored, Because of its excellent harbour and good accessibility. Akureyri has become the northern centre of education, culture, trade and industry
Day 7 : Akureyri – Borgarfjorour – Selfoss
Drive through the majestic mountains and narrow passes which lead to Skagafjorour for an introduction of the Icelandic horse. Across the Holtavorouheioi plateau to Borgarfjorour, with a visit to Hraunfossar waterfall, and Deildartunguhver, Iceland’s most productive hot spring. Proceed over the mountain pass Kaldidalur to Selfoss area.
Day 8 : Gullfoss – Geysir – Blue Lagoon – Reykjavik
Explore the golden waterfall Gullfoss and Geysir hot spring area to see the famous great Geysir and Strokkur, as well as numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue to the Blue Lagoon for refreshing bath before ending the tour in Reykjavik.
Day 9 : Reykjavik
Check out and proceed to the airport
