Day 1 : Arrival New Delhi International Airport.
You will be met from your flight to Delhi International Airport by Summit Safari’s representative, and he will accompany you to your hotel in Delhi. Rest of the day is free at leisure to relax after the flight.
Day 2 : Local sightseeing in Delhi and by overnight train to Jodhpur( 600 kms by train).
Today you have time to rest in the morning and later around 11:00 A.M you will check out from the hotel and we will take you for a sightseeing tour of Delhi to view some of the famous sights of the town with. We will take a walking tour of the Old Delhi covering the Chandani Chowk, historic Red Fort, and the busy market. If interested we will arrange for a bicycle rickshaw ride in old Delhi or a Tuk- Tuk ( Three wheeler ) ride in New Delhi for you. We will also visit and the Raj Ghat, a memorial built for Mahatma Gandhi, a prominent figure in India’s struggle for freedom, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara ( a sikh shrine) , drive past Lutyen’s New Delhi and will also visit Gandhi Smriti, also known as the Birla house where –Mahatma Gandhi had lived the last 144 days of his life from 09 September 1947 to 30 January 1948 when he was assassinated in 78th year of life at Birla House Prayer Grounds by Nathuram Godse . Thus, the house treasures many memories of his life. You can have lunch and dinner in a local Restaurant in New Delhi. In the evening after dinner at 07:00 P.M we will drive you to the Old Delhi railway station at 8:00 P.M from where we will board the overnight train to Jodhpur departing at 09:00 P.M. Overnight on Train in First Class, air-conditioned sleeper Coach.
Day 3 : Arrival Jodhpur by Train and Local Sightseeing in Jodhpur
Today we will arrive Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan famous as the Land of Kings, Forts and Palaces, Handicrafts, Textiles, and culture. On arrival at Jodhpur railway station, approximately at 08:00 A.M, we will be picked up by our driver and will be transferred to hotel in Jodhpur. On arrival at the Hotel you can fresh up yourself and will have breakfast. Later in the afternoon we will take you to visit the Bishnoi Villages ( a group of couple of villages where people from Bishnoi community lives), some 25 kms far from Jodhpur. This will provide you a glimpse of rich cultural, traditions and life of the people of Marwar ( Jodhpur), living in the villages of Thar Desert, and in some ways give our sincere efforts to help the poor and needy local people in this water scarce regions of Rajasthan Thar Desert. We will visit Salawas village (Weavers village), Kakani (Potter's and block printers village), Gudha village (Where you can spot wild life & visit to Bishnoi families. Even you can buy the local Handicrfts, Pottery and Textile products from the local sources. Even you can be the part of the Traditional Opium ceremony in a local village house. Jodhpur is quiet famous for Wooden Handicrafts and antique things and attracts buyers throughout the world. Overnight stay in Jodhpur.
Day 4 : Jodhpur Local sightseeing and further drive to Pushkar ( 190 kms / 4-5 hrs).
Today morning after breakfast we will take you for the sightseeing of Jodhpur. Jodhpur is also famous as the "The Sun City"(due to bright sunny weather) and was founded by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan, in 1459. It is named after him only. Jodhpur was previously known as Marwar province and was one of the princely states during the British Rule in India. The old city is separated by a 10 kms. long wall and has eight Gates leading out of it. The new city is outside the walled city. Jodhpur city is also referred as the "Blue City" due to the vivid blue-painted houses below the Mehrangarh Fort, in the old part of the town. Today, it is acknowledged as one of the best preserved. We will visit The Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum, Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, the local spice market and the clock tower market in Jodhpur. Jodpur is famous for famous India spices. Lunch will be in a local restaurant and later we will drive you to Pushkar. Overnight stay in Pushkar.
Day 5 : Pushkar Local sightseeing.
Today morning after breakfast we will walk uphill to visit the Savitri temple in Pushkar. It about 40 minutes of hike uphill to the Savitri temple in Pushkar and the temple on the hill top provides beautiful views of the surrounding areas. Later we will walk downhill and will visit the local interesting market of Pushkar. Pushkar is famous for its lake and The temple of Lord Bhrama—The creator of the universe in Hindu Religion. There are very few temples dedicated to Lord Bhrama ( the creator of the Universe in Hindu Religion) in the country and Pushkar has one of it. If interested we can also vist the Bhrama Temple in Pushkar. Later have time free to rest a little and for the lunch in the afternoon. If interested in the late afternoon around and in the evening we will take you for a short camel safari ( 1-2 hrs) to the nearby sand dunes, where you can enjoy the sunset. Return back to the hotel by night.Second night in the same hotel in Pushkar.
Day 6 : Pushkar to Jaipur. (150 kms / 3-4 hrs).
Today morning after breakfast at 08:30 A.M, we will drive you to Jaipur. On arrival at Jaipur we will check in to the hotel. In 1853, when the Prince of Wales visited Jaipur, the whole city was painted pink to welcome him during the regime of Sawai Ram Singh. Today, avenues remain painted in pink, provide a distinctive appearance to the city and providing it , it’s English name “The Pink City”. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan state. The City was Founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Today after lunch we will visit the Miniature painting workshop or the Jewellery showroom where you can see local crafts men carving various precious and semi precious stones. Jaipur is popular for its Jewellery and you can buy various different precious gems like rubies, emeralds, diamonds, sapphires crafted in silver and gold ornaments. Later we will take you to visit the City palace and we will visit the observatory and city palace as per your interest in Jaipur. Overnight stay in Jaipur.
Day 7 : Local sightseeing in Jaipur.
Today early morning after the breakfast around 07:45 A.M, we will leave the hotel to visit the Amber fort. Being a perfect blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture, this fort attracts travelers from around the globe. Beautifully caparisoned elephants go up hill on the place ramps, carrying visitors to the fort. These well cladded elephants make a joyride to Amber fort and in turn makes your travel to Amber fort a fascinating experience. The solemn dignity of its red sandstone and white marble pavilions, when reflected in the lake at the foot hill, is a sight to behold.The Amer Fort also know as Amber Fort, complex is lavishly ornamented and displays the riches of Amer. Sheesh Mahal – The chamber of Mirrors the Diwan e-Khas or the Hall of Private Audience has delicate mosaic work in glass, the Diwan-e-Am or the Hall of Public Audience is a beautifully proportioned hall open on three sides and stands on two rows of ornamented pillars. Later on we will visit Jaigarh Fort, overlooking the palaces and city of Amer ( Amber), the world’s biggest cannon on wheels- The Jai Ban is positioned here. The fort offers the amazing view of the city below. Later on return back to Jaipur and have lunch in a local restaurant. Later after the lunch we will take you to visit the block printing, on bed sheets and textile showrooms, where local made carpets, bedsheets and other local made handicrafts and textilesa are sold. We will also take a local walk around the local market of Jaipur and will visit the people who make the Lac bangles at Jaipur. You can also visit some famous artist for the Jaipur Blue Pottery. Return back to the hotel by evening. Second night in the same hotel in Jaipur.
Day 8 : Jaipur to Agra ( 250 kms/ 5-6 hrs).
Today after breakfast we will visit the Hawa Mahal the “Palace of The winds” from outside in Jaipur and further drive you to Agra ( 5/ 6hrs) . Enroute we will visit the Chand Baori (a step well) situated in the village of Abhaneri. It was built by King Chanda of the Nikumbha Dynasty between 800 and 900 AD and was dedicated to Hashat Mata Goddess of Joy and Happiness upon completion. It is one of the oldest and most attractive landmarks in Rajasthan. On arrival at Agra check into your hotel and later after the lunch in late afternoon ( 3:30 P.M), we will take you to visit the impressive Agra Fort whose buildings, made of red sandstone and marble, are a mix of Hindu and Islamic architecture. Later we drive back to Hotel and after freshen up yourself, in the evening around 06:00 P.M. we will take you to visit Kalakriti to view the “Mohabbat-the-Taj” a series of play, music and dance, depicting the saga of love. It is based on the true and immortal love story of Emperor Shajahan for Mumtaj Mahal- his beautiful wife, related to the story of Taj Mahal. The show will take you back to the times of the lavish lifestyle of Mughal era. Later on return back to your hotel in Agra. Overnight stay in Agra.
Day 9 : : Agra – Sunrise view at Taj Mahal and later drive to New Delhi. ( 250 kms/ 5 hrs).
Today early morning (05:30 A.M) we will take you to visit epitome of love, The Taj Mahal at Agra, which is one of the most graceful and extravagant monuments of the world. Later we drive back to the hotel and after breakfast around 10:00 A.M , we check out from the hotel and will take you to visit the Marble Handicraft and Inlay work. The Taj Mahal in Agra, the cenotaph of the emperor and his wife, is a classic example of masterpiece of beautiful marble inlay. Since then the exquisite marble work has been an integral part of the cultural heritage of Agra. In the marble inlay work of Agra, floral, trellis, creeper and geometric patterns are finely carved on the marble surface and embedded with semi precious stones. Agra is famous for Leather works also, if interested one can visit the Leather handicrafts also.
Later lunch would be in a local restaurant and further we will drive you back to Delhi. Overnight stay in Hotel In Delhi.
Day 10 : Delhi to Chandigarh By train and further drive to Kangra valley.( 420 kms / 10 hrs).
Today Early in the morning, you will be assisted to board the super fast Shatabdi Express train from New Delhi ( 07:40 A.M) to Chandigarh arrival at ( 11:10 A.M), you will be met by your driver and he will drive you to Basdi village in Kangra valley where you will stay for the next 3 nights in a village home stay and will experience the rural India. Overnight stay in the village home stay with a local Indian Family, in a neat and comfortable, home with modern facilities.
Day 11 : Local sightseeing around the village.
Today morning we will visit a local primary school, where we will meet the local children’s and the teachers. We will also attend the school prayers which are held regularly during the morning time. We will take fresh seasonable fruits with us to distribute among the school children’s.( Summit Safari will arrange for the seasonable fruits). We will drive you to visit another nearby village known as Bankhandi (1 hrs), where we will meet the different local communities and see how they do coir making, bamboo basket making, local musicians and meeting the local people etc. We will have our lunch in the village with a local family and later on we will walk around this village which will provide us a chance to meet the local people and to know about their life and traditions. We will have lunch with a local family in this village and by evening we will leave this village and will drive you back to Basdi village. On our way back if you will be interested we will visit a Hindu temple- Jawalaji temple (which is known as the temple of flames- due the natural fire flames those are burning out of the temple walls at many places). Today our women travellers have a choice of having Heena design on their palms, which will be done complimentary by the village girls. Second night in the same neat and clean comfortable home stay.
Day 12 : Basdi village home stay to Dharamshala. ( 60 kms).
After breakfast at the home stay, we will leave for Dharamshala. On arrival at Dharamshala we will first visit the Norbulingka Institute at a place known as Sidhbari, an institute working for the preservation of traditional Tibetan arts and crafts. At present, it houses over 300 teachers, students and workers. The arts and crafts include Thanka painting, tailoring, metal sculpture and wood crafts. There is a Losel doll museum a monastery and a popular restaurant inside the Norbulingka institute where you can have your lunch or tea / coffee. Later drive to Mcleodganj tour including, the Dalai Lama’s Buddhist monastery, St.John church, situated in the wilderness- where Lord Elgin is buried ( 1863) and free time to explore the local interesting Tibetan market of Mcleodganj by the side of the road. Overnight stay in Mcleodganj , Dharamshala.
Day 13 : Dharamshala to Chandigarh and train to New Delhi. ( 480 kms / 11 hrs).
Today after breakfast we will drive you to Chandigarh, from where you will board the Super fast Shatabdhi express train from Chandigarh at 06;15 P.M arriving New Delhi at 09:50 P.M . Dinner will be served to you on this super fast express train. On arrival at New Delhi at Night you will be met by our driver and we will transfer you top your hotel in New Delhi.
Please Note-; One can even fly back from Dharamshala to New Delhi at the end of this tour, or can take a extension tour to visit Golden Temple at Amritsar which is just 210 kms / 5 hrs from Dharamshala. Amritsar is a international airport, with good connectivity to all major airports in India and some of the popular airports around the world.
Day 14 : Fly Back to Your Country.
Today morning after breakfast at the hotel we will drive you the international airport in New Delhi, from where you will board your flight back to home.
This is where the tour ends. However, if you wish to stay longer in Delhi or want to take extension tour, we can make arrangements for you to be transferred to the airport at a later time.
