The Indus Valley is often dubbed as the soul of Ladakh. The Indus Valley Trek divulges the ancient territories secluded within a scenic landscape, where one side towers the snow clad peaks and the other side is dotted with cattle farms.The trek showcases most of the ancient monasteries and remote villages. It passes through a natural and vast gallery of rock arts reflecting the lifestyle and beliefs of the ancestors inhabiting here. One of the highlights of this tour is a visit to a number of ancient monasteries, such as Shey, Thiksey, Hemis Likir, Ridzong etc.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival at Leh

  Pick up from Leh Airport and transfer to hotel. Complete rest for acclimatization is must for rest of the day to avoid high altitude sickness. You will feel the elevation as it's a big jump from sea-level to 3500 meters, and it will take your body a few days to adjust to this altitude. It's very important to drink plenty of water, and to not over-exert yourself while wandering around Leh. Even walking up the stairs of the hotel will make you breathless for the first day or two. Overnight stay at Leh.
• Day 2 : Leh Monastaries

  After breakfast, full day excursion to various Monastaries/Gompas in and around Leh. Visit Thiksey Monastry (19 Kms) and from there drive to Shey Monastry, Stok Palace and museum. This day will help you acclimatization to the place further. Overnight stay at Leh.
• Day 3 : Leh - Likir (2 hrs)

  After Breakfast, drive to Likir. Later visit, Likir Gompa, established around the 15th century. It is home to around 125 Lamas. O/N stay at camps
• Day 4 : Likir - Yangthang

  After breakfast, start the trek from Likir to Yangthang. Route has has two low passes, the Phobe La (3700m) and the Charatse La (3800m). Reach Yangthang and overnight stay in the tents.
• Day 5 : Yangthang - Hemis Shukpachan (3600m)

  Early morning after breakfast,start your trek from Yangthan to Shukpachan. On the way, visit the Ridzong monastery, surrounded by beautiful hills. After a tiny pass, you will slide down towards the Hemis Shukpachan. Overnight stay in the camps..
• Day 6 : Hemis Shukpachan - Temisgang (3700m)

  After breakfast start your trek. Further Trek has been chiseled out from the Ochre rocks into a balcony. After climbing two passes which are at altitude of 4000 m arrive at Temisgang, which is the ancient capital of the Sham Kingdom and it has monastery also. Over night stay in the tents.
• Day 7 : Temisgang - Lamayuru - Leh

  After breakfast visit the monasteries of Lamayuru and Alchi. Later drive ride back to Leh. Overnight stay at a Leh hotel.
• Day 8 : Departure from Leh

  After breakfast, check out from the hotel & drop at Leh Airport for return journey with sweet memories of Ladakh Tour.
