This 10-day, 9 overnights tour discovers three major Croatian regions; Zagorje, Slavonia and Dalmatia, and passes through others like the mountainous region around Plitvice Lakes. Continental Croatia captivates with rolling green hills, medieval castles and vibrant cities. Start with a tour of Zagreb, Croatia’s buzzing metropolis that offers a unique blend of old and new, and then continue to explore the regional highlights; town of Samobor and castles, vineyards and villages of Zagorje. Moving west, the road goes towards Slavonia region. First stop, Dakovo, holds a few surprises, the St. Peter’s Cathedral and the State Stud Farm of Lipicaner horses. Even more west, Kopacki Rit Nature Park is one of largest natural wetlands in Europe and home to over 300 different bird species and the parks trademark; herds of deer. In this region travelers will also visit the Homeland War Memorial in Vukovar, rolling vineyards in Ilok, Lonjsko Polje Nature Park and Krapje village with beautiful wooden houses. Progressing towards the Adriatic Coast the tour will make the obligatory stop at the Plitvice Lakes National Park. This UNESCO site lures visitors from all corners of the World with the unmatched beauty of its 16 cascading lakes and waterfalls. Driving through Dalmatia, travelers will get to know traditional village life as it used to be in Stankovci village, before reaching Dubrovnik. Among the most recognizable UNESCO sites in the World, the medieval Old Town Dubrovnik fascinates with intriguing history and beautiful surroundings. Exploring Dubrovnik Riviera will deepen travelers understanding of local traditions like production of silk yarn in Cilipi, olive oils in Orasac and shellfish farming in Mali Ston.
Day 1 : Zagreb
Arrival to Zagreb. Welcome to Croatia.
Day 2 : Zagreb, Samobor
Explore historical sites and current trendy spots around the vibrant capital. Stroll around many green parks, visit museums and take a break on one of numerous coffee spots before continuing to Samobor. A small town not far from Zagreb, Samobor attracts with its medieval ambience and gastronomic delights.
Day 3 : Kumrovec, Veliki Tabor, Trakoscan
The day will be spent discovering the green hills of Zagorje region, a visit to the ethno village and museum Kumrovec and medieval castles. We will take a short brake in one of large shopping centers before returning to Zagreb.
Day 4 : Dakovo, Osijek
The journey commences with a drive to Slavonia region. Fascinating traditions of Dakovo will be discovered during a carriage ride, to end in tour of world famous Lipicaner horse farm before continuing to Osijek.
Day 5 : Park of Nature Kopacki Rit
A short drive from Osijek we will visit the breathtaking bird migration hotspot, Park of Nature Kopacki Rit, and continue the tour of Slavonia visiting Vukovar and the Homeland War Memorial. Known for its premium wines, a visit to Ilok will delight all the oenophiles.
Day 6 : Plitvice Lakes National Park, Nature Park Lonjsko Polje, Krapje
Depart Osijek towards Plitvice Lakes, with stops at Nature Park Lonjsko Polje known for its diversity of wildlife and in Krapje, the village with hundred-year-old wooden houses.
Day 7 : Plitvice Lakes National Park, Stankovci,
Travelers will spend the morning on a tour of Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO site and most visited park in Croatia whose 16 cascading lakes and magnificent waterfalls are known worldwide. Departing Plitvice Lakes towards Dubrovnik, stops will be made in traditional Dalmatian village of Stankovci.
Day 8 : Dubrovnik, Konavle, Cilipi
A guided tour of Dubrovnik's historic Old Town and the famous city walls in the morning hours before the tour departs towards Konavle region to beautiful Cilipi village known for its folklore troops. Another local tradition will be explored in the area, the production of silk yarns in Ruskovic house.
Day 9 : Dubrovnik, Orasac, Mali Ston
Travelers will enjoy unprecedented panoramic views of Dubrovnik and Adriatic Sea from atop Srdj Mountain, visit a local olive oil producer in Orasac and take a boat out to shellfish farm in Mali Ston.
