This hiking trip is a tailor made trip for three highest peaks of Iran as well as one the highest mountain in the central Alborz mountains. As Iran has lots of mountains over 4000 m, it would be a great opportunity to climb the main summits of the country as a special trekking trip. On this trip we will start the journey from the capital city of Tehran and after one day short city tour, you will transfer to a village with 2700 m height for pre- acclimatization. Then you will have a trekking in the Koloon Bastak Peak (4156 m) in central Alborz mountain for exercising. This summit prepares us for three peaks and would be a good start with Iran climate. Afterward, you will fly from Tehran to Ardebil and we spend three days for Sabalan peak, which is the third highest peak in Iran with 4811 m height located in northwest of the country. Then we have two days rest before the next summit and we will visit Masuleh and Caspian Sea during these periods on our way to the coast. Then you spend two days for Alamkuh peak with 4880 height. Alam Kuh is Iran’s second highest mountain with a great mountainous landscape view. Then you will have two rest day for recovery before the highest mountain of Iran. During these two days, we will stay one night in the forest enjoying the great opportunity to be in touch with locals. Then we will drive from north of Iran toward Mount. Damavand base camp. For 4 days you will be in mountain Damavand for the summit and back to the capital to fly back home.
Koloon Bastak Peak
Northern Tehran is located on central Alborz mountains. Koloon Bastak is one of the highest summits in the region with 4170m altitude from sea level. The closest village to this summit is Shemshak. This village is at 40 km north of Tehran and 60 km to Tehran central areas. The village is trekking start point to Sarakchal and its altitude is 2700 m. Shemshak is famous as it was the first ski resort in Iran opened in 1958 and still is the third largest ski area after Dizin and Darbandsar.
Sabalan Peak
The peak of Sabalan is the third highest peak of Iran with 4811m heigh, it's located on the Ardebil city in Ardebil province, the northwest part of the country. Sabalan or Savalan Mountain as an inactive volcano with 4811 m is one of the most beautiful mountains in Iran. As it is on the corner of the country (north west) and it's far from the capital, only special foreigner climbers choose to climb. For most of the year, the peak is covered with snow as it is in the north of Iran. At the summit there is a beautiful lake in the bowl on the top situated in over 4800 m which makes it one of the world’s highest lakes. Mount. Sabalan is actually an inactive stratovolcano and the lake have been formed in the volcano’s hole, which is covered with ice from October till May. From the peak, there is a 360 degree panoramic view of the area and if the weather will be clear, you can see many mountains in the north west of Iran and the Caspian Sea as well. Also, there is a lot of wide range of plant and flower around the mountain and during spring it makes magnificent view around the mountain. Also, there are a lot of birds and animals living in the area makes the mountain more attractive. Also, there are a lot of nomad live around the mountain and one of the most famous one is called Shah Savan tribe.
MT. Alam Kuh
Alam kuh is the name of a massive mountain located in Northern Iran in Mazandaran province. It’s located in Takht-e Soleyman massif mountain chain. Also Takhte Soliman is a part of West Alborz mountains range. The altitude of Alam Kuh is 4850 m from the Sea Level and is the second highest mountain in Iran after Damavand Mountain (5610 m). Alam kuh is the center of many Mountain Activities for nature lovers. The north face of Mt Alam Kuh is a massive vertical wall that made Alam kuh very famous mountain for all climbers around the world. The length of the wall rises up about 480 m vertical granite rock up to the summit. One of the main highlight is the base of the wall starts from 4400 m from the Sea level and its make the rock different for climbing. There are a lot of different route on this wall which began from 1936 till now. The south face of Alam kuh is the only route that most of hikers choose this one during the summer for hiking up to the summit.
MT. Damavand
Damaavand with 5610 meters altitude (according to the latest estimates) is the highest mountain in Iran and western Asia. It is also the highest volcanic cone-shaped peak in Asia. Its volcanic activity has been in the geological past and there is no human historical record of any known activity, so it is considered as a non-active former volcano. As a former volcano, it is endowed with many natural gifts due to its past. Hot and cold springs abound on her slopes and the surrounding land. There are sizable areas on its slopes that are covered with sulfur and still active enough to give off that special sulfur odor. There are relatively large glaciers, frozen waterfalls, gas and steam wells. Because of many deep valleys and high slopes surrounding it, the region harbors a great variety of vegetation and wildlife. There are great vistas where one can take in some quiet moments and gaze at beautiful panoramas, while standing in the heart of this remarkable mountain. It is located in the Central Alborz Mountain chain and has at least 16 recognized routes for ascending to its peak. There is a long and colorful history of numerous ascends. Some have become quite mythical in their colorful accounts, courageous deeds and tragic ends. The mountain itself is the subject of many mythical and folkloric tales. In the spring, the slopes are covered by green pastures and wild flowers. From the peak everyone can see quite some distance. To the north, you will see the Caspian Sea; to the west there are the waters of Lar reservoir and the sprawling city of Tehran. To the south one can gaze into the vastness of the desert which is called Dashte Kavir. In a brief phrase, it is a truly remarkable and memorable climb on a unique mountain.
