Jeep Safari to Plateau Lassithi is the best choice for those who want to visit the traditional villages and discover the local way of life.

Our first stop is the traditional village of Krasi, located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level in the Northwestern foothills of Mount Selena. The main occupation of the inhabitants is olive growing and livestock. At the highest point of the village is the “great fountain”, a source with abundant water, which irrigate a large area, with lots of fruit trees, especially walnut. Krasi taps are one of the nicest water complexes in Crete. Near the source is huge plane tree with a trunk circumference of 24 metres and extensive dims square where the accommodation during the summer months are pleasant and organized social events. The plane is known for its size and for the age of which is estimated by the residents is over a thousand years, between 1.800 and 2.000 years.

Leaving Krasi we continue our trip up to the mountains to the village of Psichro. Here we will have a chance to visit the Dikteon Andron cave, the place where according to Greek mythology the future father of the gods Zeus was born.

After visiting the cave we stop for a lunch in the traditional family run tavern where you will have chance to relax and taste dishes of Cretan cuisine.

Leaving the tavern we are heading to Plateau Katharo located at an altitude of 1200 meters and mainly inhabited in summer by shepherds who bring their flocks to the plateau by the end of May and live there until the end of November.

Going down from plateau we make a stop in Kritsa village with its traditional narrow streets and amazing people. It is one of the oldest villages of Crete and retain significantly more intact its old architectural physiognomy.
