Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival

  You will be met at Johannesburg Airport and transferred to your hotel in this thriving city.
  
  Check in and relax under warm blue South African skies in 'Egoli' - the city of gold.
• Day 2 : Johannesburg

  Today enjoy a city tour of old Johannesburg and Soweto.
  
  We start with a visit to Constitution Hill - the site of the notorious Old Fort Prison, and continue to the poignant Apartheid Museum, a living memorial to racial segregation.
  
  We then drive to the sprawling township of Soweto for lunch (own account). Here we visit the original home of Nelson Mandela in Vilikazi Street and significant memorials to the freedom struggle, including the Hector Pietersen Museum, before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.
• Day 3 : Elephant Park

  This morning transfer to the beautiful Magaliesberg Mountains region to visit Lesedi, an authentically reconstructed African village showcasing the culture, arts and crafts of South Africa’s five main tribes. Consult a sangoma (traditional healer) and watch energetic dancing, before enjoying an included lunch.
  
  On the way home we stop at the Elephant Park at Hartebeespoort Dam to see African elephants up close, as well as a variety of other small animals and reptiles.
  
  Time permititng, we also visit the Ann Van Dyk Cheetah Centre, where you can observe these magnificent endangered creatures up close and see the wonderful work being done here to conserve this species.
• Day 4 : Madikwe Game Reserve

  Today transfer 5-hours through the rural North West Transvaal to the beautiful malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve.
  
  After checking into your lodge, game viewing opportunities should present themselves almost immediately in this vast game sanctuary. Hopefully you will see several species of antelope, zebra, wildebeest and maybe even wild dogs - as well as several of the Big Five on your first game drive.
• Day 5 : Madikwe Game Reserve

  Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day, as you enjoy game viewing in an open top game vehicle in Madikwe Game Reserve. Explore the vast plains, which offer magnificent game viewing and the opportunity to search for all of the Big 5 - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino - and much more, before returning to your lodge for breakfast.
  
  The rest of the morning is free to relax by the swimming pool or enjoy bird watching, before setting out again in the late afternoon for another game drive. With numerous different species of mammals and reptiles in the park you can hope to see cheetah, giraffe, hippo, kudu, crocodiles, sable antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs and many other interesting animals. Outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed!
  
  After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way – as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.
  
  Note: You need some upper body strength for this safari, as you will need to be lifted into the front seat of the game viewing vehicle. Children < 6 are not allowed on open top game drives.
• Day 6 : Madikwe Game Reserve

  Rise at dawn to take advantage of the best game viewing conditions of the day, as you enjoy game viewing in an open top game vehicle in Madikwe Game Reserve.   Enjoy a final early morning game drive in Madikwe, before your 2.5-hour transfer to the resort of Sun City.

• Day 8 : Sun City

  Relax and enjoy the many facilities of Sun City independently.
  
  Although originally established as a gaming resort, today Sun City offers a wide variety of outdoor and leisure activities - with its wonderfully warm weather having made it one of South Africa’s most popular holiday destinations.
  
  The resort has many beautiful swimming pools, whilst the "Valley of the Waves" water park has gentle rides as well as thrilling steep slides and a tropical beach with real waves. The resort also offers a wide variety of restaurants.
  
  If you would like to gamble the entertainment centre offers slot machines and bingo, whilst the casino offers black jack, roulette and more. Outside there are waterfalls, an aviary and abundant tropical bird life.
• Day 9 : Sun City

  Relax and enjoy the many facilities of Sun City independently.
  
  Although originally established as a gaming resort, today Sun City offers a wide variety of outdoor and leisure activities - with its wonderfully warm weather having made it one of South Africa’s most popular holiday destinations.
