Mahabalipuram, also known as Mamallapuram is a town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is around 60 km south from the city of Chennai. It is an ancient historic town and was a bustling seaport during the time of Periplus (1st century CE) and Ptolemy (140 CE). Ancient Indian traders who went to countries of South East Asia sailed from the seaport of Mahabalipuram. By the 7th century it was a port city of South Indian dynasty of the Pallavas. It has a group of sanctuaries, which was carved out of rock along the Coromandel coast in the 7th and 8th centuries : rathas (temples in the form of chariots), mandapas (cave sanctuaries), giant open-air reliefs such as the famous 'Descent of the Ganges', and the Shore Temple, with thousands of sculptures to the glory of Shiva. The group of monuments at Mahabalipuram has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Pondicherry (or Puducherry), a French colonial settlement in India until 1954, is now a Union Territory town bounded by the southeastern Tamil Nadu state. Its French legacy is preserved in its French Quarter, with tree-lined streets, mustard-colored colonial villas and chic boutiques. A seaside promenade runs along the Bay of Bengal and passes several statues, including a 4m-high Gandhi Memorial.Any airfare / train fare

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrival at Chennai - Transfer to Mahabalipuram

  On your arrival at Chennai airport/railway station, meet our representative and get dropped to Mahabalipuram. Stop at Dakshinachitra Cultural Centre – a hub of art, architecture and culture. Carry on your journey to Mahabalipuram. On arrival, check in to the Hotel and enjoy a relaxing overnight stay.

  After a delicious breakfast, proceed for a sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram's seven monolithic temples standing on the seashore. Also see a huge fresco known as Arjuna Penance. Spend rest of the time at leisure or indulge into shopping. Return back for a comfortable overnight stay.

• Day 3 : Transfer to Pondicherry

  After a delicious breakfast, check out and drive to Pondicherry. Spend day at leisure while exploring beaches and other things. Return to the Hotel for an overnight stay.

  After breakfast, visit the Auroville City – an experimental township. After that, visit the famous Aurobindo Ashram followed by Vinayaka Temple. In the afternoon, enjoy boating at the Chunnambar backwaters and relax at the beaches of Pondicherry. Come back to the Hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.
