Day 1 : Arrival
You will be met at Mumbai Airport by your driver and transferred to this bustling city, formerly known as Bombay. This is the most populous city in India and its commercial capital, as well as the home of the Bollywood film industry.
On arrival enjoy a half day city tour to see some of the highlights. Time permitting, these can include the Gateway of India, the Prince of Wales Museum, Crawford Market, Jain Temple, the beautiful Hanging Gardens, the circular Tower of Silence, the open-air laundromat at Dhobi Ghat or Gandhi's house at Mani Bhawan. Afterwards check into your hotel.
Note: Mani Bhawan and Price of Wales Museums both close at 5 pm.
Day 2 : Nagpur
Transfer to Mumbai Airport for your flight to Nagpur.
You will be met at Nagpur Airport and transferred 4-hours to Tadoba Andhari National Park, one of India's most important tiger reserves dedicated to preserving these magnificant predators. Check into your jungle lodge and relax in this wildlife region.
Day 3 : Tadoba National Park
Today enjoy the wildlife of Tadoba National Park that covers an area of over 240 sq.miles (625 sq.km).
This tiger reserve is the oldest and largest national park in the central state of Maharashtra and stretches across the densely forested Chimur Hills of the Tadoba reserve, as well as the Moharli and Kolsa ranges of the Andhari sanctuary. It is one of the best places to see sloth bear.
Early morning is the best time to see tigers, but be aware that it is extremely difficult to find them in the jungle and sightings are never guaranteed. Best viewings are generally at the end of the dry season (March to May, although it is extremely hot from April onwards), when the tigers search out the waterholes - but you need to take at least 4 game drives for a good chance of a sighting.
Tadoba has a lake that provides a perennial water source for muggar (marsh) crocodiles and water birds. It is also home to leopards, sloth bears, gaur, wild dogs, hyenas, civets, jungle cats and many species of deer - such as sambar, cheetal, nilgai and barking deer.
Two jeep safaris per day are included - one in the early morning and one in the late afternoon.
Note: The tiger reserve is closed every Tuesday, but it is still possible to have a game drive in the buffer zone. The park is also closed during the Holi & Diwali festivals, as well as during the monsoon season (July to early October).
Please note we always try to book jeep safaris, but these can only be reserved 90 days in advance and cannot be guaranteed - in which case your game drive will be in a 20-seater canter. In the winter months, morning safaris require warm clothes including woolly hats and gloves to protect you from the wind chill in your open vehicle.
