Kakani to Nagarkot hiking is one of the popular and long days hiking that take you to the hills on the rim of Kathmandu valley starting from the Ale Danda in Kakani up to the beautiful hill of the Nagatkot via, hills of Shivapuri (2,563m) National Park. Kakani is a beautiful mountainous landscape rich in the variety of flora and fauna offering the most panoramic view of the majestic mountain massif from Ganesh Himal to the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

The Kakani - Nagarkot hiking starts from Kakani(1082 m) which is 23 km northwest of Kathmandu. From kakani we hike up to the Ale danda. From Ale danda passing through the dense forested area we hike up to the Shivapuri National Park area situated at northern side of Kathmandu valley. From Shivapuri area is known as a protected area and inhabits large number of endangered bird and animal species some of which are leopards, jungle cats and Himalayan Black Bears. On the trail in Shivapuri area hikers can also observe a large variety of mushroom species, approximately 127 bird species and 102 different species of butterflies. The two major rivers lying in the Shivapuri area are the Bisnumati and Bagmati rivers. Following by the rhododendron forest and steep terrain we hike up to the Chisapani. From Chisapani via Chauki Bhanjyang we hike up to Nagarkot one of the beautiful hill station and best sunrise view point offering the magnificent view of the shimmering mountain ranges like Mt. Everest in the east, Annapurna (8091m/ 26,545ft), Manasalu (8165m/ 26,781ft), Ganesh Himal (7446m/ 24,422ft) and Lantang Lirung (7245m/ 23,763ft), Mt Shisa Pangma( 8013m) Mt Gauri Shankar (7145m) and many more mountains. From Nagarkot we return back to Kathmandu via bus.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Kathmandu

  We receive you at Kathmandu Airport and transfer to hotel.
• Day 2 : Kakani

  We drive to Kakani (1082 m), which is 23 km northwest of Kathmandu. From Kakani we hike to Ale Danda
• Day 3 : We Continue Our Hiking from Ale Danda to Shivapuri

  We continue our hiking from Ale danda to Shivapuri: This magnificent hill is covered with white red and pink rhododendrons during the months of March and April and this wonderful variety is definitely one of the reasons that hiking Shivapuri is so popular.
• Day 4 : We Hike from Shivapuri to Chisapani

  offers splendid sunrise view through mountains range. Walk along the rim between the Shivapuri watershed forest and magnificent Himalaya and at Chisapani.
• Day 5 : We Hike from Chisapani to Nagarkot Via Chauki Bhanjyang

  We hike from Chisapani to Nagarkot via Chauki Bhanjyang. Nagarkot- one of the beautiful hill station and best sunrise view point offering the magnificent view of the shimmering mountain ranges like Mt.
