This Kamchatka Winter Tour is your chance to visit one of the most remote and pristine destinations on Earth – the Kamchatka Peninsula, on the edge of the Pacific Rim of Fire. There are no roads or railways from Kamchatka to the rest of the world – the only practical way in is by air. For lovers of wildlife and rugged natural scenery, it is a no-brainer to visit Kamchatka - a paradise on Earth.
Kamchatka is a land of geysers and volcanoes, seething and rumbling with boundless geothermal energy. Its landscapes are jagged, raw and strangely alien - a mix of barren mountains, windswept coasts and lush forests and meadows. On this Russian winter holiday, you’ll visit some of Kamchatka’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders. You’ll enjoy skiing on some spectacularly uncrowded slopes as well as dog sledding and snowmobiling. Visit the ethnic family in the village of Kaynyran for a cultural immersion in Kamchatka way of life.Flights, travel insurance, visa, optional excursions, individual transfers, tips
Day 1 : Welcome to Kamchatka
Our group meets at the airport where we are introduced to our tour leader before transferring to Paratunka, a health resort zone 30km from the capital of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Spend the day relaxing in and around the secluded resort. Soak in the stunning geothermal outdoor pool, surrounded mist, snow and crisp alpine air.
Day 2 : Avachinsky Volcano Freeride
There are many ways of getting around Kamchatka and today we’ll be taking a snowcat. Known for their use grooming snow trails and powering through masses of snow, these truck-sized vehicles will take us across to the Avacha volcano.
On the way, if conditions permit, there might be a chance to do some skiing or snowboarding on some easy slopes around the mountains.
Carve down the base of Avacha and explore rich valleys and forests, winding down to the foot of the volcano.
Day 3 : Husky Dog Sledding And Cultural Immersion
Kamchatka is home to several ethnic groups, among them the semi-nomadic Koryak.
Today we visit a nomad camp belonging to the Koryaks. Listen to traditional Koryak folk songs and sample native dishes.
You’ll have the opportunity to purchase handmade crafts and a shaman will tell stories from the lives of the Koryak ancestors.
After a traditional meal, we get acquainted with one of Kamchatka’s more unusual forms of winter transport – the husky dog sled!
You’ll get a chance to ride your own sled and learn the art of ‘mushing’ with the help of your experienced guide.
Day 4 : Snowmobile Safari to Vilyuchinsky Waterfall
Snowmobiles are a popular form of personal transport for Kamchatkans in winter.
Today we’ll find out for ourselves just how useful (and fun) these machines are on a snowmobile safari to the Viluchinsky waterfall or Three Brothers Rock (depending on the weather).
If you’ve never ridden a snowmobile before, our trusty guides are on hand to give a safety briefing and make sure you’re comfortable with the controls before setting off on your adventure.
Day 5 : Skiing on Moroznaya Mountain
Suit up for an awesome day of mountain skiing at the Gora Moroznaya ski resort.
In a beautiful alpine setting, this is Kamchatka’s premier ski resort, boasting excellent facilities and 5 ski slopes suitable for all levels of experience.
The longest slope is a satisfying 2,050m, and the shortest, for beginners and children, is 300m.
The knowledgeable guides will help free riders find unspoiled slopes that are both safe and spectacularly scenic.
Day 6 : Petropavlovsk City Tour
Today we’ll take a city tour of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
Shop at the fish markets and try fresh produce from the pure waters of Kamchatka’s rivers.
Buy traditional gifts and native handcrafts to remind you of one of the most beautiful places on the planet. After some free time to shop, eat and explore in the scenic city, transferring to the shore of the Pacific Ocean for a stroll at the foot of the world’s largest oceanic division.
Day 7 : Departure
Check out from Paratunka before transferring to Petropavlovsk Kamchatsky Airport for your journey home.
