Kandy - Colombo Tour

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Airport - Kandy

  Welcome on the arrival and then immediate transfer to Kandy, En route visit the places of interest and stop for tea & toilets then continue towards Kandy Arrive in Kandy, welcome and immediate check in to the rooms at hotel.
  
  Afternoon visit the places of interest in Kandy, if time permits you can witness a "cultural dance show" organized by kandyan dancers.
  Return to hotel for overnight stay.

• Day 2 : Kandy - Giragama - Peradeniya - Kandy

  After breakfast proceed to Giragama, visit a tea plantation and a tea factory to see entire process of Srilankan tea industry such as plucking, drying, weathering, rolling, fermentation, and classification etc.
  
  Thereafter return to Kandy, visit the world famous Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya where you can do a reposing promenade. Royal Botanical Garden was first created as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and then expanded by the British. It is 147 acres in extent and provides an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

  Kandy - The last capital of the Sri Lankan kings is declared as a world heritage site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1806, visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts and crafts center and a gem museum and lapidary.
  
  Do a sightseeing and shopping tour in Kandy, whilst your tour you can go through "upper lake drive", "around the lake", "market area", "bazaar", and also stop at a "Art & Kraft Center"& a "Gem Museum to purchase some typical souvenirs of Sri Lanka.
  
  Late in the evening witness a "Cultural Dance" show organized by kandyan dancers (if you couldn't witness on the first day.
  Overnight stay in the hotel.

• Day 3 : Kandy - Temple - Elephant Orphanage - Colombo

  After breakfast proceed to Dalada Maligawa, the Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha where the Sacred Tooth Relic is placed and preserved, visit the temple during the "pooja ceremony" (in the morning).
  
  Dalada Maligawa is undoubtedly the most important and greatest attraction of the city. It is one of the most sacred places for Buddhists who come from all over the world. At 9:30 hrs participate the traditional rituals which is being performed daily by the religious dignitaries of the temple.
  
  Thereafter continue towards Colombo en route visiting the Elephant Orphanage in Pinnewela, one of the most interesting attraction for both children and adults in Sri Lanka.
  
  Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage - is a home for about 60 elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are being cared, fed and trained by the wild life authority. The best time for your visit is feeding & bathing time. You will have an opportunity to see bottle feeding and daily bath in the river situated in a close proximity.
  
  Arrive in Colombo check in at Hotel, in the afternoon do a sightseeing and shopping tour the city. Overnight stay in the hotel.

• Day 4 : Colombo - Shopping & Sightseeing Tour - Airport

  Breakfast in the hotel thereafter start shopping and sightseeing tour at a most convenient time(depends on the departure time).
  
  Colombo - Like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo also fast changing its face. Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained. A 100-year-old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings are still to be seen in the city. Visit a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, "Cinnamon Garden", the residential area where you can see homes of the affluent, the Bandaranaike memorial international conference hall - an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the people's republic of china are some of the places of interest that one can visit. Drive through "Fort", "Pettha", where you can still see the charm of old constructions.
  
  For shopping Odel, Arina, Lakmedura, Mlesna Tea, Ceramic Show Room, Majestic City, Liberty Plaza, House of Fashion etc are mostly visited by travelers.
  
  After visiting Colombo leave for Air Port. Arrive on time to take the connecting flight; Horizon Voyages will assist you to do necessary formalities at the Air Port prior to the departure.
