Kannur is a beautiful beach and cultural heritage town in Kerala. Kannur was known as Kolathunadu in the Middle Ages and an important port during that time. It was ruled by the Kolathiris. It’s miraculous climate and beautiful beach make it must visit place.
St. Angelo Fort is a heritage site and is located by the Laccadive Sea about 3 km from Kannur town. It was built by a Portuguese named Francisco de Almeida in 1505. Payyambalam beach is a famous beache of Kannur.
Muzhappilangad Beach is another famous beach located near Kannur. Expand of sand and surf, its quietness makes Payyambalam Beach a best beach for relaxing. Payyambalam beach is a well-liked picnic spot.Muzhappilangad beach is a drive-in beach. The beach extends to four kilometers of sands and you can drive the entire length. Its shallow water is swimmer’s paradise.
St. Angelo’s fort was built by Don Francisco De Almeida in 1505. This Arabian Sea facing fort offers great views of Dharmadom Island and Moppila Bay. The Dutch annexed the fort from Portuguese and later the British annexed it and convert it inot a chief military station in Malabar.
Payyambalam Beach is rich in marine life and covered with thick trees. Its Blue green water makes this beach a heavenly look and most popular tourist destination. This beach is a good place to spend weekend holiday. Payyambalam Beach extends three km along the cost.
Muzhappilangad Beach is bordered with Black rocks. This beach is only drive-in beach in Asia. In low-tide days of sea, you can walk to Dharmadam Island, which is 100 meters off the shore. Dharmadam Island is a private property, so you need to take permission to go there. The sunset is very attractive form the island.
Day 1 : Bengaluru - Kannur
Kannur is 312 km from Bangalore. So you will have to travel a distance of 312 km. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. After refreshing up at the hotel we take you to explore Fort St. Angelo’s Kannur, Muzhappilangad Beach and Dharmadam Island. Over night stay in hotel.
Day 2 : In Kannur
In second day, after refreshing, you will visit the Payyambalam Beach, Chirakkal Museum of Folk Art, Parassinikkadavu Snake Park and Thalassery Fort. Visit local market of Kannur. Later we will drive you to Bangalore.
