Jammu and Kashmir is a Union Territory in northern India, often denoted by the acronym J&K. It is located mostly in the Himalayan mountains, and shares borders with the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the south.Jammu and Kashmir is home to several valleys such as the Kashmir Valley, Tawi Valley, Chenab Valley, Poonch Valley, Sind Valley and Lidder Valley.The Jhelum River is the only major Himalayan river which flows through the Kashmir valley. The Indus, Tawi, Ravi and Chenab are the major rivers flowing through the state. Jammu and Kashmir is home to several Himalayan glaciers The climate of Jammu and Kashmir varies greatly owing to its rugged topography. In the south around Jammu, the climate is typically monsoonal, though the region is sufficiently far west to average 40 to 50 mm (1.6 to 2 inches) of rain per month between January and March. In the hot season, Jammu city is very hot and can reach up to 40 °C (104 °F) whilst in July and August, very heavy though erratic rainfall occurs with monthly extremes of up to 650 millimeters (25.5 inches). In September, rainfall declines, and by October conditions are hot but extremely dry, with minimal rainfall and temperatures of around 29 °C (84 °F).

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Arrive Srinagar & Tour of Lakes

  Arrive Srinagar and transfer to Hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. In the afternoon Shikara ride on The Dal Lake to enjoy the beauty that God has graced this city with, which is often compared to Venice. You will get view of some very interesting places around the Lake. Overnight at Hotel.

• Day 2 : Srinagar - Sonmarg - Srinagar (84 Kms & 3 Hrs. Drive One Way)

  After breakfast leave for full day excursion for Sonamarg situated at an altitude of 9000 Ft. Sonamarg is also called as "The meadow of gold" has, as its backdrop, snowy mountains against a cerulean sky. The Sindh River that meanders through the valley abounds with trout and mahaseer. Ponies can be hired (at your own cost) for the trip up to Thajiwas glacier, which is a major local attraction during the summer. Return back to Srinagar. Overnight stay at Hotel.

• Day 3 : Srinagar Local Sightseeing

  After breakfast Check-In to Hotel visit Mughal Gardens, "Chashm-E- Shahi" (The Royal spring), "Nishat" (The Garden of Pleasure) and "Shalimar" (Abode of All). Afternoon, visit Shankaracharya Temple located on a hillock, thus providing panoramic views of the city, along with views of the famous Dal Lake & River Jehlum. Overnight stay at Srinagar Hotel.

• Day 4 : Srinagar To Dooth Pathri (60 Kms & 1.5 hrs One Way)

  After breakfast proceed to Dooth Patri. Doodhpathri is a tourist destination and a hill station in the Indian administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located in Khansahib area of Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir" Overnight staty in Srinagar Houseboat.

• Day 5 : Srinagar To Gulmarg (54 Kms & 2 Hrs One Way)

  After breakfast transfer to Gulmarg, called as 'Meadow of Flowers". Gulmarg is 54 Kms from Srinagar at an altitude of 8700-ft. Gulmarg also referred as Meadow of Flowers which is a famous Ski Resort & the world’s highest 18 hole Golf Course. The place was prominent during the British time. You can enjoy a pony ride & also the scenic view of Kongdori on a Cable Car Ride – ( Gandola & Horse ride at your own cost). Evening return back to Srinagar. Overnight stay at Srinagar Houseboat..

• Day 6 : Srinagar To Pahalgam (90 Kms & 2 hrs Drive One Way)

  This morning after breakfast drive to Pahalgam 2440 Meters (Vale of Kashmir) On arrival check into your hotel. On the way visit Saffron field and Avantipur ruins, which is eleven hundred years old temple. Pahalgam is the most famous place for Indian Film Industry. After lunch enjoy the nature charm of the valley. Overnight at Hotel in Pahalgam.

• Day 7 : Pahalgam Local sightseeing

  Pahalgam is situated at the confluence of the streams flowing from Sheshnag Lake and the Lidder river. Pahalgam was once a humble shepherd’s village with breathtaking views. After breakfast you can enjoy the nature & walk around the banks of River Lidder. Pahalgam is famous for some trekking routes as well, so you can also go for trekking or horse ridding (at your own cost) to the nearby places. After lunch excursion trip to places like Chandanwari , Betab Valley & Aru valley route to holy cave (at your own cost) thus happens to be a preferred spot among domestic tourists, Evening Return back to hotel. Overnight stay at Pahalgam.
