The British empire may have ceased to exit, but its echo lingers on in Shimla (2205m). As the Summer Capital of the British in India, Shimla was the country's focus for the better part of every year and now, is the state capital of Himachal Pradesh. Today, it has well developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous attractions making it one of India's most popular hill resort. Situated in the lower ranges of the Himalayan mountains, it is surrounded by pine deodar, oak and rhododendron forests. Towards the north lie the snow-covered high-ranges, while the valleys breathe whispering streams and swaying fields. Within the town are host of splendid colonial edifices, quaint cottages and charming walks. Shimla offers a variety of shopping, sport and entertainment activities
ACCESS The airport is at Jubbar-Hatti, 23 km away. Shimla is connected to Kalka by an enenchanting narrow gauge railway line where even a quaint rail car ply. By road, Chandigarh is 117 km, Manali is 280 km, Chail is 45 km and Delhi is at a distance of 370 km. From Delhi, Manali and Chandigarh, luxury coaches and taxis ply to Shimla. During tourist season HPTDC also operates regular deluxe buses from Delhi and Manali to Shimla.
CLIMATE In winter, the temperature can drop below freezing point when heavy woolens are required. Summer temperature are mild and light woolens/cottons are recommended.
Day 1 : Arrival Jammu/ Katra (40 kms/ 1 hrs)
Meet on arrival in Jammu airport or railway station and transfer to Katra. On arrival check in at hotel. Rest of the day free. Overnight at hotel
Day 2 : In Katra
After breakfast visit Vaishno Devi temple 12 kms). Vaishno Devi is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Shakti, located in the hill of Vaishno Devi, Jammu and Kashmir, India. In Hinduism, Vaishno Devi, also known as Mata Rani and Vaishnavi, is a manifestation of the Mother Goddess. The temple is situated at an altitude of 1615 m on the Trikuta Hills of Shivalik Range. There are three rock cut statues in the 100 feet long cave. The middle one represents Goddess Lakshmi, right statue represents Goddess Kali and left one represents Goddess Saraswati. There are many tea stalls and Dhabas along the way where you can stop for a while and take rest. After visiting the temple, return back to Katra. Overnight at hotel
Day 3 : Katra / Dalhousie (240 kms/ 7 hrs)
Travel by surface from Katra to Dalhousie. On arrival check in at hotel. Rest of the day free to explore small & beautiful Dalhousie. Overnight at hotel
Day 4 : In Dalhousie
Morning after breakfast at hotel a full day excursion to Khajjiar & Chamba town. Evening return back to Dalhousie. Overnight at Hotel
Day 5 : Dalhousie/ Dharamsala (143 kms/ 5 hrs)
Travel by surface from Dalhousie to Dharamsala. On arrival check in at hotel.Evening visit Dalai Lama temple and Bhagsu Nag temple. Evening free to explore Mc Leodganju market. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 : Dharamshala / Manali (240 kms/ 8 hrs)
Travel by surface from Dharamshala to Manali enroute visiting Kullu town. On arrival check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7 : In Manali
Morning half day city tour visiting Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple, Vashisht Village and Tibetan Monastery. Afternoon visit Naggar Castle and Roerich Art Gallery (closed on Mondays). Overnight at hotel.
Day 8 : In Manali
Full day excursion visiting Kothi Gorge, Gulaba, Marhi, Rohtang Pass (Up to Snow Line in case Rohtang is closed due to snow fall) and Sollang Valley. Overnight at hotel.
Day 9 : Manali to Shimla (265 Kms/8 hrs)
Travel by surface from Shimla to Manali. On arrival check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 : In Shimla
Morning half day tour visiting Kufri. Afternoon tour visiting Indian Institute Of Advanced Studies, Sankat Mochan Temple and Jakhu Temple. Evening free to stroll in the famous The Mall which is main shopping area of city, The Ridge and the bustling Lower Bazar. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11 : Shimla/ Kalka drop (90kms/ 3 hrs)
Travel by surface from Shimla to Chandigarh. On arrival transfer to railway station or airport drop. End of tour & our services
