Day 1 : Arrival in Guwahati – Kaziranga
Kaziranga National ParkOnce you arrive at Guwahati, you will be immediately driven to Kaziranga which will take almost 5 hours to finally reach your destination. Once you arrive in Kaziranga you will be immediately checked in to your forest resort and after freshening up, your guide will take you on a brief stroll by the banks of River Brahmaputra.
Pro Tip – Make sure you don’t venture out alone on your own without any vigilance, since it could be extremely dangerous for you.
Day 2 : Kaziranga Sightseeing
Your early morning time will commence with the famous elephant safari at Kaziranga National park, where you will be safely boarded on jeeps and taken along the riding points of the national park area. The entire safari will be of 1 or half an hour through the tall grasses, covering areas such as Baguri, Hole path, Mihimukh, Kohora central path and Arimarah.
After observing the wildlife in its natural habitat, you will be taken for breakfast, post which you will be taken for a jeep safari of the central zone, starting from Mihimukh riding tower, where you will witness the famous one horned rhinoceros among a whole plethora of other animals.
After an exciting and fun filled first half of the day, you will head back to your resort for lunch. Post lunch you will be taken to your second jeep safari of the day, where you will be covering the western part of the national park, starting from Bagori entrance and comprising of Donga view point.
Finally, after an eventful day, you will be escorted safely back to your resort.
Pro Tips:
Avoid wearing bright colors in the park which will distract the wildlife, instead wear colors like black, grey, olive, khaki and other such clothings.
Remember that this is not your home, and maintain silence at all times.
No music is to be played inside the park premises.
It is advised for you not to disembark the vehicle and move on foot, this will definitely invite danger and put you at great risk.
Do not carry anything that may become trash, like plastic bottles and food with wrappers.
The entire route inside the park are kaccha raasta (roads that are not cemented), so be sure to make provisions beforehand for protection against dust and dust related allergies.
The change in the dates or course of the national park journey is completely up to the forest department officials, who may make changes indefinitely and without any prior notice.
Day 3 : Kaziranga – Guwahati – Shillong
Early in the morning you will be driven to Shillong, a 5 hours 10 mines journey, which is located in the ‘Scotland of the East’, Meghalaya. On your way you will be made to experience the crystal, shimmering, sky blue water of the Lake Umiam. The scenic reservoir, set comfortably on the lap of Sylvan Hills, attracts numerous tourists who flock here to spend some time with their loved ones.
After a picturesque escape you will then be driven to your final destinations of Shillong where you will be duly checked in.
Day 4 : Shillong – Cherrapunjee Sightseeing
Early in the morning you will leave for the wettest destination in the world, Cherrapunjee which is at a distance of 65 km. On your way you will savor some of the most beautiful cascading waterfalls and lush green gorges. Upon arriving at this scenic destination you will be checked in to your hotel. Later on you will proceed for a local sightseeing tour of some of the most popular tourist locations here starting with Nohsngithiang Falls, which is also known as the seven sisters falls, and is one of the tallest waterfalls in India. The water plunges from a massive height of 1,033 feet from top of the limestone cliffs.
Your next mesmerizing site will be the tallest plunge waterfall in India, Nohkalikai falls, which falls from a whopping height of 1115 feet. The water seems like it falls from among the cotton candy-like clouds and creates and picturesque vista.
Your final stop for the day will be to one of the most notable landmarks in Cherrapunjee, Mawsmai cave which is a limestone construction. It is also the perfect place for children to have an adventurous experience. The fascinating stalagmites formation creating magnificent pillars are a sight to behold. Be sure to be careful while walking inside the cave since there is constant water dripping from the roof of the cave making the floor area slippery.
Day 5 : Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong – Shillong
ShillongYour journey to the cleanest village in India, Mawlynnong, will commence early in the morning which is situated at a distance of 28 km, which will fall en route Shillong.
You will be made to visit the famous living root bridge, which are a handmade form of aerial rubber fig roots and is a must visit for nature enthusiasts. People can only reach here by hiking a small distance but it is totally worth it.
After this you will head to Shillong, while stopping on your way to observe the scenic 2 tiered, rugged and cascading, Elephanta falls which is located amidst the thick greenery. Before reaching the city of Shillong, you will be taken to Shillong peak viewpoint, from where you can observe the breathtaking views of the picturesque city surrounded by the mighty mountains. Make sure not to litter the pristine site and do your bit to save the environment.
Day 6 : Shillong – Guwahati
Before commencing your journey to Guwahati, you will be taken on a local sightseeing tour of Shillong, starting with one of the prime picnic spots of artificial water body Ward’s lake. Here you have the opportunity to admire the colorful plants, take a stroll along the water on the cobble stoned paths, eat snacks in the cafeteria, feed the fishes and take part in paddle boating.
After spending some quality time with your loved ones you will be taken to Guwahati where you will be immediately checked in upon arrival.
Day 7 : Guwahati – Departure
Post breakfast you will be escorted to the airport from where your journey ahead will commence hence concluding your trip.
