Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Arrival

You will be met at Mombasa Airport and transferred along the coast to your beach resort.

Check into your hotel situated on the shores of the sparkling Indian Ocean and relax in your warm tropical surroundings.

  • Day 2 : Mombasa

At leisure to relax and soak up the sun on the Indian Ocean beaches of the warm Mombasa coast.

Enjoy the lush tropical gardens of coconut trees, fan-shaped travellers palms and the vibrant blooms of hibiscus, bougainvilleas and frangipani - as well the splendid coastline. Activities vary by resort but include water sport, scuba diving and deep sea fishing.

Note: Please be aware that all beaches in Kenya are public, so expect to see local beach sellers.

  • Day 3 : Tsavo National Park

We leave Mombasa early this morning and drive 3.5-hours to Tsavo National Park, travelling in a safari minibus with pop-up roof for game viewing and guaranteed window seat.

Following the route of the railway line built by the British in the late nineteenth century, the road passes through warehouses and workshops on the outskirts of Mombasa, climbing steadily and soon the vast plains of Tsavo become visible in the distance, with the rolling Taita Hills on the horizon.

At Buchuma Gate we enter Tsavo East National Park, the largest park in Kenya at over 7,000 square miles (nearly 12,000 sq. km) and named after the Tsavo River, which flows through it. Check into your lodge in this great wilderness area, which is divided into an eastern and western section and is one of the oldest and largest wildlife conservation areas in Kenya.

After lunch at your lodge, in the afternoon we set out on a game drive in search of a variety of plains game, predators and bird life - including lions, elephants, giraffe and zebras.

Departure time: 05.00 for south coast hotels - 06.30 for north coast hotels.

  • Day 4 : Tsavo National Park

Enjoy a final early morning game drive in Tsavo National Park before your 3.5-hour transfer to Mombasa.

Here you will be met around 13.30 and transferred 2-hours along the beautiful Swahili coast to Malindi.

Check in to your hotel situated on Watamu Beach on the shores of the sparkling Indian Ocean and relax in your warm tropical surroundings.

  • Day 5 : Deep Sea Fishing

Rise early for 5.5-hours of exciting Deep Sea Fishing in the turquoise waters of the warm Indian Ocean.

Depart from Watamu Harbour with your skipper at 06.30, with all tackle, packed lunch, water & soft drinks provided. Watamu is especially good for black marlin (mid-September to December) and sailfish (mid-May to mid-October), but these waters are also home to swordfish, big wahoo, benito, king & queen mackerel, giant trevally, tuna, barracuda, groupers, snappers and various sharks – including Zambezi, dusky, blacktip, hammerhead and tiger. There are also inshore species for light tackle and fly fishermen. The practice here is tag and release.

We return to the harbour around 12 noon, although a 9.5-hour full day option is available on request.

Afterwards relax and enjoy Watamu Beach, fringed with coconut palm trees and the vibrant blooms of hibiscus, bougainvillea and frangipani. The blue ocean waters host a wide variety of coral gardens, inhabited by multi-coloured fish such as angelfish, butterflyfish, triggerfish and surgeonfish - most easily seen snorkelling, scuba diving or by glass-bottomed boat. Activities available vary by resort but include water sports, scuba diving and optional day tours, include a visit to the ancient Gede Ruins.

Note: Fishing is good all year, but at its best from October to early April. There is no fishing during the rainy months of May and June, when the sea is rough and fishing boats are usually out of the water for repair.
