The Lewa Marathon is regarded as one of the toughest races in the world, as it combines high altitude running on rough 4x4 safari tracks, with the equatorial sun. The race takes in June, running through the Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy, one of Kenya's most beautiful game parks, with half marathon option. All race transfers, park fees and game drives included.

Day 1 : Arrival
You will be met at Nairobi Airport by your guide and transferred 4-hours through coffee plantations and small farms to the highlands of Mount Kenya, travelling in a safari jeep (with pop-up roof for game viewing).
Located just south of the equator, magnificent Mount Kenya is an extinct shield volcano and the highest mountain in Kenya, and second only to Kilimanjaro in Africa. Mount Kenya National Park has been declared a World Heritage site because of its sensitive flora and fauna. Check into your hotel and relax in this beautiful region.
Day 2 : Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy
Today enjoy game viewing in the Lewa Downs Wildlife Conservancy - a beautiful 62,000 acre game reserve incorporating the Ngare Ndare Forest Reserve, situated close to the equator and imposing Mount Kenya.
Lewa Downs is home to a variety of wildlife, including all the Big Five - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino - as well as plains game such as zebra and sitatunga. Lewa protects over 12% of Kenya's populaion of endangered eastern black rhinoceros and the largest population of endangered Grevy's zebra in the world.
Day 3 : Lewa
Today register for the Lewa marathon, half marathon or 10 km run. You will need to collect your race number and familiarise yourself with the route.
Also enjoy morning and afternoon game drives.
Day 4 : Lewa Marathon
Rise early today for your transfer to the start of the high altitude Lewa Marathon and half marathon, which raises funds for conservation and community development.
This tough marathon is run on rough 4x4 tracks through the Lewa Downs Wildlife Consevancy, which is home to a variety of wildlife, including the Big Five - lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo. It is also home to endangered cheetah and Grevy's zebra.
The average elevation of the course is 5,500 feet (1,700 m) above sea level. As Lewa Downs is situated close to the equator, the combination of equatorial sun and high altitude can test even the most seasoned marathon runner - but completing this marathon will be one of your greatest running achievements.
Day 5 : Mombasa
Transfer 4-hours to Nairobi Airport for your onward flight.
You will be met at Mombasa Airport and transferred along the coast to your beach resort.
Check into your hotel situated on the shores of the sparkling Indian Ocean and relax in your warm tropical surroundings.
Day 6 : Mombasa
At leisure to relax and soak up the sun on the Indian Ocean beaches of the warm Mombasa coast.
Enjoy the lush tropical gardens of coconut trees, fan-shaped travellers palms and the vibrant blooms of hibiscus, bougainvilleas and frangipani - as well the splendid coastline. Activities vary by resort but include water sport, scuba diving and deep sea fishing.

Day 7 : Mombasa
At leisure to relax and soak up the sun on the Indian Ocean beaches of the warm Mombasa coast.
