The Kerala, a state on India’s tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It’s known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers.
Day 1 : Arrive Kochi
Arrive Kochi. On arrival check inn at the hotel (Standard Check in at 1400Hrs).Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 2 : Kochi – Munnar
Today you will proceed to explore the city thoroughly: visit Cochin City. You will first proceed to Mattancherry, where you will visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Saturday) in India, built in 1568; it was destroyed by the Portuguese and rebuilt by the Dutch a century later. From Jewish Synagogue you will visit Chinese fishing nets. The cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbour mouth. You will then visit St. Francis Church, originally named after Santo Antonio and dedicated to him as the Patron Saint of Portugal, St. Francis Church is the first church to have been in the new European influenced tradition. You will also be visiting The Dutch Palace (Closed on Friday) at Mattancherry, which was built in 1555 and its coronation hall and murals at Ramayana are noteworthy features.Later drive to Munnar.
MUNNAR - Munnar is the nature-lover’s paradise. Snuggling in the green and serene Kannan Devan Hills lies the quiet and restful resort of Munnar. Panoramic views of low-flying clouds and mist filled valleys make it a pretty little heaven with a cool bracing climate. It was opened up out of virgin forests a century ago by pioneering planters. Within its remote and elderly churches - gracious, stone-structures with ancient chandeliers and rosewood pews. A little beyond lays Anaimudi, South India's highest peak.
Day 3 : Munnar - Thekkady
After breakfast proceed for a morning sightseeing trip of Munnar which includes, Eravikulam National Park, Mattuppetty Dam, Echo Point, View Point and the Tea Gardens and Tea Museum (Remain closed on Monday).
Later drive to Thekkady (Periyar Tiger Reserve). Periyar is South India’s most popular Tiger Reserve, encompassing an area of 777 sq. km. Set on the attractive man-made Periyar Lake; it attracts over 300,000 visitors a year. Though the sanctuary was made a part of Project Tiger in 1973, it is better known for its elephants.
On arrival in Periyar, proceed to check-in at the hotel (Standard Check in at 1400Hrs).Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 4 : Thekkady – Alleppey
After breakfast, you will be taken for the boat ride on Lake Periyar, to see the animals come down to the lake to drink. This amazingly beautiful national park owes its existence to the construction of a dam on the river Periyar in 1895. The resulting reservoir measures 55 square kilometers and the Park itself measures 777square kilometers. It is one of 18 Parks in India, which make up Project Tiger and whilst it boasts a healthy population of big cats, due to the topography, the chances of sightseeing are quite rare.
Drive to Alleppey. On arrival check in at the hotel (Standard Check in at 1400Hrs).
Alappuzha (or Alleppey) is a city on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of Kerala. It's best known for houseboat cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Alappuzha Beach is the site of the 19th-century Alappuzha Lighthouse.Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5 : Alleppey – Kochi
After breakfast, you will be transferred in your private car to Kochi Airport to connect flight for onward destination.
