Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1 : Paro Airport - Thimphu (65 kms / 2 hrs)

    Meet & Greet on Arrival and transfer to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay will be at Thimphu.

  • Day 2 : Thimphu Sightseeing

    After breakfast visit King's Memorial Chorten (Monument), Changangkha Monastery, National Zoo (Contains National Animal Takin), National Library, BBS Tower, Folk Heritage Museum, Textile Museum, School of Arts and Crafts, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, Traditional Paper Factory (made from Daphne Plant). Overnight stay will be at Thimphu.

  • Day 3 : Thimphu - Paro (65 Kms / 2 hrs)

    After breakfast transfer to Paro (7,483 ft.). On arrival check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit TA Dzong - National Museum with an excellent collection of Bhutanese Antiquities. Rinpung Dzong - the administrative seat of the district of Paro. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay will be at Paro.

  • Day 4 : Paro Sightseeing

    After breakfast visit Drukgyel Dzong. Also visit famous Taktsang Monastery - Called "Tiger's Nest" (2 hrs hike from the base camp) & Kitchu Monastery. Overnight stay will be at Paro.

  • Day 5 : Paro Airport

    After breakfast check out from hotel and drop at Paro Airport for your onward journey.

THINGS TO REMEMBER - DO'S & DON'T'S.

Photography (Please check with your guide):
Request permission before taking photographs of people, events or objects. Inside the premises of Temples, Dzongs or Monastery, taking photographs is not permitted. Taking photographs is only permitted in the court yard area.

Religious Artifact / Antique:
Please do not touch any religious artifact or antique. Purchase of religious items especially antiques is prohibited. Please do not climb on or do anything that would show lack of respect to Buddhist Artifacts or Antiques, large or small, ruined or not, they are regarded as sacred.

Dress Code:
Please take of hats while entering Dzongs, Temples or Monastery. Shorts / Half Pants are not permitted while entering a Dzong, Temple or Monastery.

Communication:
Before entering a Dzong, Temple, Monastery, please switch off all mobile phones or keep in the Silent/Vibrating Mode. Please speak softly within the religious premises.

The Bhutanese Way:
Always walk in clockwise direction while visiting religious places. Please remember not to point with a single finger but use an upturned flat extended hand especially to indicate a sacred object or place. Please throw rubbish only in designated areas. Please refrain from touching any ritual objects or mural paintings. Please do not walk over any clothes, books, hearth or materials left open in religious sites. Please refrain from smoking or drinking while visiting religious places. If you are not sure please ask the local people or the guide. Please do not be too close to the lake or river if you visit to avoid any accidents.

Smoking / Tobacco Products:
Any tobacco products and cigarettes are forbidden in the kingdom. For personal consumption passengers are permitted to bring 200 imported cigarettes (10 packets) on payment of 200 percent duty and 100 percent duty on INdian Make Tobacco Products. Alcoholic beverage up to 1 liter for personal consumption is allowed.

Currency Notes:
Indian Currency Rs. 1000 & 500 are not acceptable in Bhutan. Few ATM Machines are available in Thimpu & Paro only.

Child Policy:
Hotels are very strict with the Child Policy. Please carry the age proof so that it can be produced when asked. Child Below 5 yrs complimentary. Child 5 - 10 yrs without extra bed as mention in cost column (CNB = Child no Bed). Above 10 years / Extra Adult with an Extra Bed Sharing Room are same & charged as per (EPSR).

We need following for process your booking
Guest Name & Contact Number. Naming List with Gender & Age. Arrival / Departure Details.

Permit for Bhutan:
Indian nationals do not require any visa for Bhutan. A permit will be issued at the entry point on production of a passport or Voter ID and 04 passport size photographs.

Restricted Area Permit for Punakha / Wangdue:
Restricted Area Permit is required to visit Punakha / Wangdue from Home Ministry of Bhutan. No charge will be applicable for this permit. Please bring 02 passport size photographs and Voter ID card or Passport of each person including child. This special permit is given only after guest has entered Bhutan. Permits are not issued on Saturday, Sunday & Govt. Holidays.

NOTE:
The above mentioned hotels will be confirmed as per the room availability. Otherwise we will confirm similar category hotel. The rates quoted in the packages are on per person basis & valid for Indian Nationals till 15th March 2012 (High Seasons Surcharge will be applicable during the Festivals & Peak Season). We believe in giving value for money and we believe that quality comes with a price tag. We at Himalayan promise to provide the best of our services and keep by our commitments towards quality and the sensitivity of the services.

About Vehicle:
We provide exclusive vehicles in our packages. Non AC Maruti-Suzuki SX4 / Toyota Corona / Wagon R for 1-3 Pax. Non AC Innova / Tucson for 4-5 Pax. Non AC Toyota Hiace for 6-8 Pax.

Important:
Check-in 12:00 hrs. / Check-out time is 11:00 hrs. The guest should always keep cool with the drivers as they are not tourism educated and come from different remote villages. On arrival of guests we will provide them with local contact numbers of our executive, who will handle the entire operation. If any tourist spot do not complete for closing day & if they want to do the same on next day then they have to pay the extra cost for the vehicle. Please inform your guest to maintain the timing for the sightseeing / transfers which will advisable by our executive. Once our vehicle will leave the hotel area without picking up the guests & come back at parking stand then guest must have to arrange their own to reach at the parking stand. Room Heater available with an Extra Cost Bourne by the guest directly (Except at Premium & Luxury Packages). Due to shortage of power the guest sometimes, may have to bear it with candle light. Category of Rooms in the packages normally remains to Deluxe / Super Deluxe Rooms. For Extra Adult in the room we will provide an Extra Bed (wherever possible), but some hotels only provide a roll out bed and have no provision of an Extra Bed. Operator reserves the right to re-arrange itinerary to suit hotel availability without changing the total number of days in each destination and without compromising any services. Child sharing parent's room will not be provided an Extra Bed.

DO'S:
Adults must carry Original & Valid Passport or Original Voter ID Card. Children must carry Original & Valid Passport or Original Birth Certificate & School Photo ID Card. Remember to carry sufficient Woolens including hand gloves. Please check with your mobile service provider for charges related to Bhutan.

DON'TS:
Do not carry Indian Rs. 500/- or Rs. 1000/- Currency Notes. It is Illegal. Tobacco & Tobacco products are banned in Bhutan. Do not bring any plant or agricultural product out of Bhutan. It is Illegal. Credit cards are accepted in selected establishments in Bhutan.
