After reaching Sarahan make an evening visit to the Bhimakali Temple, Beautiful hamlet with complete tranquility, abode of Mata Bhimakali (One of 51 Shaktipeethas). A paradise for adventure lovers/ trekkers, picturesque carving of Mother Nature in the majestic Himalayas, enchanting snow-capped peaks all around. Soaked in nature’s beauty at its best, Sarahan is flanked on the banks of meandering Sutlej River. Overnight at Hotel.
The Kinner-Kailash range is silhouetted against the lovely town of Kalpa, the ancient capital of the Kinners of Kinnaur. In ancient Hindu mythology, the Kinners were birdlike men akin to Gods – midway between man and God. Once you reach the town of Kalpa, you are rewarded by the most fantastic views of the Kinner-Kailash, of the 70 m Shivling that juts out of the peak and the striking sunrises and sunsets that light up the mountains. Overnight at the camps.
We visit the Kalpa temple in the morning. Waking up early and watching the facing Kinner-Kailash peaks from your place would be highly rewarding. Some time will be spent in acquiring permits from the ITBP post, as the place is under control of Indo Tibetan Boarder Police. We reach the campsite in the evening. Overnight camping .
We trek deep in the Tirung Valley of Kinnaur. The trail gradually ascends to village Lambar which is a small village with ITBP check post. Overnight at the camp.
After breakfast, we move along the trail that passes by Tirung Valley and a narrow gorge. Leaving behind the pine forests, the trail enters lush forests of juniper and wild roses. As you near Shurting, you can view rich, lush meadows. Overnight stay in tents.
Shurting is a small high land and here two river streams meet forming the Lambar River. We leave the campsite and start trekking towards Charang valley.
Soon after breakfast, we ascend up the valley, cross the Lalanti River and enter lush meadows. The trail further narrows as it follows steep ascents and finally arrive in Lalanti at an elevation of 4200 m. We will camp for the night at an amazing campsite with a mesmerizing view of Zanskar range.
The trek on Day 11 is very challenging and will take about 8-9 hrs. to accomplish. The trek starts with crossing of rich pastures. The trail winds its way to a glacial lake, moraine fields and rock cairns. It normally takes six hrs. to reach Charang La from Lalanti, where about 200 meters at the last stretch is a steep climb. Charang La is a superb vantage point that offers an awe-inspiring view of the Kinner-Kailash range and other stunning snow-capped peaks. Thereafter the trail descends to Chitkul Village, the last village of India on this side towards the border. From here, we drive to Sangla Village taking one more hour to cover 21 Km.
A beautiful valley to relax after a strenuous trek. If a landscape had the powers of casting spells, then the Sangla valley would be a magician extraordinary. Even the rushing waters of the Baspa River that flow through its 95 km length, seem to absorb some of the magic. 2 km from Sangla is the fort of Kamroo, its tower-like architecture resembles that of the Bhimakali complex. Overnight at Hotel.
We return to Shimla through Rampur and Narkanda on the Old Hindustan Tibet Road.
Easy day. After a lazy morning drive down to Chandigarh, we take the Shatabdi to Delhi in the evening. At arrival transfer to Hotel or Delhi departure.
