Kolkata served as the capital of India during the British Raj until 1911 when due to geographical disadvantages and growing nationalism in Bengal the capital was shifted to New Delhi. The city is noted for its vibrant political culture, ranging from the Indian struggle for independence to contemporary politics. Once the center of modern education, science, culture, and politics in India, Kolkata witnessed economic stagnation in the years following India's independence in 1947. However, since the year 2000, an economic rejuvenation has led to an acceleration in the city's growth. Like other metropolitan cities of India, Kolkata continues to struggle with urbanization problems like pollution and traffic congestion. Despite its problems, Kolkata remains the dominant urban area of eastern India and a major educational and cultural hub.

Sagar Island lies on the continental shelf of Bay of Bengal about 100 km (54 nautical miles) south of Kolkata. It belongs to the Republic of Indiaand is governed by the State government of West Bengal. The island is large — with an area of around 300 km². It has 43 villages and a population of over 160,000. This island is a famous Hindu pilgrim place , Gangasagar . Every year on the day of Makar Sankranti (mid of January), hundreds of thousands of Hindus gather to take a holy dip at the confluence of river Ganges and Bay of Bengal and offer puja in the Kapil Muni Temple.

Day wise Itinerary

• Day 1 : Kolkata Airport / Rly. Station -

  City Hotel
  Meet & Greet On Arrival At Airport / Railway Station & Transfer To Hotel. Check-In To Hotel & Rest Of The Day At Leisure. Overnight Stay Will Be At Kolkata.
• Day 2 : Gangasagar Excursion & Back

  After Early Breakfast Start For Full Day Excursion To Gangasagar To Visit Kapil Muni Ashram. Arrive Lot No. 8 (Harwood Point) From Kolkata By Car. After Reaching Lot No. 8 You Have To Take The Ferry To Cross The Muriganga River For Kachuberia. And Take Private Bus Or Car For Sagar Island From Kachuberia. Evening Back To Kolkata. Overnight Stay Will Be At Hotel.
  Note: We Will Provide Ac Vehicle For Kolkata To Ferry Ghat I.E. Lot No. 8 / Harwood Point (110 Km.) & Return Back To Kolkata. Ferry Cost & Local Vehicle Cost From Kachuberia On Your Own.
• Day 3 : Kolkata City Panorama

  After Breakfast Start For Full Day Kolkata City Tour. Drive Pass Howrah Bridge, Belur Math, Vivekananda Setu, Dakshineswar Temple, Drive Pass Gpo, Writers Building, Eden Garden Stadium, Rajbhawan, Visit Indian Museum, St. Pauls Cathedral Church, Victoria Memorial Hall & Mother House. Overnight Stay Will Be At Kolkata.
